    hi

i have seen some great shots on this thread recently! excellent quality!

i havn’t posted any shots recently, what with it being christmas and doing to much uni work.

i’ve got loads of shots to post, but for now, here’s a ‘sneaky preview’ of what is to come in the next couple of weeks

    thanks

    pfff.

    utter rubbish. i want my money back…in advance…before i’ve even bought it. :p 😉 😀

No, the previews look incredible. i can’t wait for it to be released

Better start saving up for that super computer though.

Would getting a higher powered power supply help with my probs?

    in a word, no.

Your psu meets and exceeds the minimum specification, so it should be perfect.

you have probably fallen into the trap that fortiesboy said about on your other thread.

what u could try is getting the most upto date drivers from nvidia. you can get them from their website, but they are huge files – a problem if u have dial-up.

the 6600 requires that you attach a 4-pin power dongle to its side. have you got one, and did you attach it?

what operating system do you use? have you got the latest directX drivers from microsoft?

in the end, you may have fallen into that trap of getting a graphics card that is slightly too powerful for the processor. what processor model do you have?

    hope that helps

Stumpy, what processor has your computer got?

you want to be careful not to get a graphics card that is far to fast for your processor. the processor won’t be able to keep up with the graphics card, so the graphics cards full potential would be wasted.

dean, you can’t go wrong with the 6600gt. its a great card!

    All,

    A couple of things to bear in mind;

If MS added in all of these suggestions, the ‘disk growth’ would increase rapidly. MSFS used to be sold on one disk, then two, now with FS2004 its 4 disks! Imagine how many disks they would need to fit on all of the above. Land textures…if they are too high detail the size is higher. If they are too low detail then there is no improvement. It’s a fine line they have to walk.

i would guess that it will probably be sold on dvd disks if it takes up more than 5 CDs.

apparently FS10 is due for release in feb 06. apparently we’ll have AI animals and AI road vehicles. i can bet that that’ll be a headache for computer processors and graphics cards.

i hope they get the AI working properly, unlike the aircraft AI they have now. imagine landing on an isolated grass stip with ‘AI animals’ all around it. lets hope we don’t see a cow suddenly take off. lets hope we don’t see horses doing the heathrow – jfk run. imagine seeing a cow fly past you at 33,000 ft.

    mmmmoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Perhaps it was one of the pilots smoking? Perhaps he wanted cigarette to relax himself once he realised that after carrying just two passengers, the airline was going to collapse and he would lose his job. 😀 :p :p 😀

    – New atc and pilot voices
    – more realistic ATC procedures, with something like built in congestion in the holding patterns, SIDs, STARS
    – more freedom for third party (free and payware) developers to have access to the code so they can modify the game
    – more ground landclass textures, and season textures
    – more weather themes
    – ability to declare emergencies
    – water on the ground during rain etc
    – sort out your AI!!!!

…and we as gamers can do the rest – updating airports, adding new aircraft, and altering AI like we do now

Matt, have you noticed when an ifdg aircraft touches down,no smoke appears?

    BMI A319 – nope
    BMI A320 – nope
    BMI A321 – nope
    EI A320 – nope
    EZY A319 – nope
    SU A321 – nope

its kind of annoying as i think with such detail on the aircraft itself, a bit of smoke wouldnt make any difference *sigh*

you’ll probably find that the effects files for the smoke are not in the fs9 main effects folder. you usually get the neccessary files with each ifdg download in its own effects folder. copy any effects files into the main effect folder. something like “Microsoft GamesFlight Simulator 9Effects”.

    problem should be solved

    thanks

    Try three things:

Get your fs9 installation cd’s, explore them to find the supposedly missing files, and copy them to the folders that they should be in

    and/or

Go to ‘C:Documents and Settings[your user name]Application DataMicrosoftFS9’, and move the ‘fs9.cfg’ and ‘scenery.cfg’ to a folder, like your documents or something outside of the fs9 folders.

Then rename the files, so that fs9 doesn’t use them.

Or, you could just try deleting these two files instead of moving them. (moving and renaming them is simply safer i think – acting like a backup). When you next launch flight sim, the program will rebuild these files.

Hopefully, your problems will be solved.

Failing that, uninstall the two add-ons – traffic and a340. Failing that, uninstall and reinstall fs9.

    Hope that helps

    Happy Christmas 🙂

The major low fare airlines will never fly into LHR, because LHR is not a low cost airport.

I think you’ll find that bmibaby is doing it. Although it is most likely that bmibaby has just taken over some bmi flights and slots. The flights may even be operated by bmi with just a bmibaby flight number or titles on the aircraft. Not perfectly sure how it is done.

There are a number of very good reasons why there are very few low-fare long-haul operations right now, and it won’t get easier for low-fare operators to break into the long haul market in the future either, because:

Also, a low cost airline tries to stuff in as many passengers into its aircraft as possible. the seat pitch will be awful on a long haul aircraft, and imagine sitting for as much as 10 hours with your knee cabs digging into the seat in front of you.

also, of course, you wouldn’t get frills. imagine having to survive for up to 10 hours with just a sandwich and drink which you bought on the aircraft yourself. a no frills airline would be able to provide snacks and drinks which you buy on the aircraft, but i should think that ‘proper meals’, even if you bought them on the flight from the cabin crew, would be out of the question. a meal for each of the 400 or so passengers takes a lot of storing. i should think that a low cost airline would rather use the space for more seats than a galley or two. the level of service would be very low – the airline many not be able to provide any reasonable level of service, even if you paid for food etc when on board.

a large, long haul aircraft is of course much more expensive to operate than a short haul 737 etc. the unit cost for a long haul aircraft is also a lot higher than the cost of buying short haul equipment, so for their budget, a low cost operator will not be able to buy/lease as many aircraft. more crews will be needed as well = more expense. low cost, long haul is therefore, i think, not very attractive to a low cost airline. i don’t think we will ever see really low cost long haul air travel, or atleast not for the next 10 years.

    thanks

    Happy Christmas 🙂

these have been the best shots that i have seen on this forum for a while. great PMDG 744, FlyTampa Dubai (me wants :-D), bmibaby 737, Thomson 757, Amsterdam and ryanair 738 shots!

mark, where do you get your executive jet models (falcon 50 etc) from? payware or freeware?

    happy christmas everyone!

In FS2000 I don’t always get decent frame rates, and the graphics are nowhere near as good as those on this forum.

there’s your problem. are you sure you mean FS2000 and not FS2004 or FS2002? if you have FS2000 then no wonder your graphics aren’t very good.

Mine was/is an nvidia card, but like I said in another thread, I can’t use the bloody thing because I don’t have an AGP slot to put it in.. grr.. 😡

Michael, do mean that the AGP slot is actually broken off?, or did the computer’s motherboard simply not come with one? you might have a ‘PCI-Express’ slot instead of an AGP slot which would explain your problem.
