    RE: Airbus

Well even sadder you think that being British. Just mention one thing…your country makes the wings. Are you telling that many of the safest airlines in the world and use Airbus are simply risking the lives of their passengers?. Think well before writing. Have another nice A320. Look, look, look it. It´s incredibly beautiful.

Get a B757 pick taken recently in my local airport, sit back and relax you´re a bit altered. But please, give more reasonable arguements against Airbus. The ones given are a bit odd.

    RE: A320

Well tastes are tastes. And about being reliable, I don´t really find the B737 a particularly realiable aircraft, appart from being terribly ugly. In any case, it should be useful if you get some more information before telling some statements. Just make clear, Airbus aircraft have never had any crash because of manufacturing faults. I am affraid Boeing can´t say the same. It quite simplistic comparing Boieng and Airbus. Boeing has built legends and still builds good aricraft. But it´s time to be generous and acknowledge that Airbus makes terrific aircraft too. It seems that some americans are a bit envious and don´t want others to sell good planes. Sorry Airbus is here to stay.

Calling Airbus “rubbish” is indeed a peculiar and curious oppinion.

Killing civilians is a massacre indeed. I don´t mind who committed it. I don´t mind if they were trapped in the middle, if the Palestinians put them as human shields, if the Israelis killed them on purpose, or by change. It was a massacre, No discussion about it. Responsabilities is another question. I have even seen on TV corpses of babies. Serious investigation. If I were Israeli, and my president had done that (it doesn´t matter if he was fighting terrorism) I would demand him to be judge immediately.

Sactions would be great, but there´re countries in the EU which thinks that many harm has been done to the jews in the past and´have a guilt feeling like Germany, and don´t want to do anything against them. If genocide is not permitted, if it was like that in many cases, I simply understand why Israel can.

    RE: Airplane accidents

Something stupid but old planes get old because they haven´t crashed. An old plane being checked is reliable and as safe as a modern one. And a modern model, whose performance hasn´t been well tested may have unpleasant surprises. Safety depends on maintenance and crew training and of course external factors as weather, orography and so on.

My symphaties for the relatives of the victims. The plane crashed against one of the landmarks of Milan, the “Pirelloni” one of the first concrete skyscrepper built in Europe. Fortunately no many victims. I still think overflying residential areas should be forbidden. Obviously human beings are more important, but I can´t even think the results of the plane falling over Milan Cathedral or Pisa Tower. It seems that the structure of the building has been damaged at all.

    RE: Viva Air

Well hard and sad story. LH and IB founded Viva as a cooperation and initially a charter airline to take germans to the spanish coasts. They used B737-300 with a livery which resambled to painter Joan Miro ones. LH and IB had problems, germans where too strict for anarquic Iberia, so LH sold his stake to Iberia. Then Iberia didn´t know what to do with VIVA, initially as Iberia charter branch and then as a Low Cost (one of the first in Europe), so some Iberia flights and destinations which where no cost effective where transfered to VIVA. But Iberia pilots, were really upset their partners ar VIVA got more and more IB flights and complained. At the end and due that Iberia pilots do whatever they like and in a way rule the airline got what they wanted and closed VIVA and crews were integrated in Iberia. They also used DC-9 from Aviaco (domestic airline, bellonging to the same group as Iberia) for inter islands hops in the Canary Islands. I remember flying VIVA because they operated the flight from here SCQ to LGW and the service was spectacular and meals quite good. Crews were dressed in smart green and black clours and hat (like London bobbies). Great airline.

    RE: Favourite Holiday Destination

I don´t like holidays, I prefer travelling to countries I don´t know or cruising. I don´t get on plane to go to a beach. I have more than 300 at easy reach by car. In any case, I love the UK, Germany, Italy , France or any other European country where I had friends to visit. And of course London.

Uncertainty and caos. If the people are called for new elections things could change. But taking into account Chavez background I assume he will use his time to short the democratic system even more as excuse to prevent coups. Sad, specially for us, the Spaniards who have millions of Spaniards living there.

    RE: Safety

No feasible data could be built considering the number of crashes. Sometimes an airline has lots of crashes because they operate in hard enviroments. Weather, orography badly equiped airports…and so on. Only an airline is considered unsafe if many maintenance error occured or the crews are not properly trained.
