There were lots of complains about the A310 price, but due to the plane crash in Turkey, the issue seems to be quite off at the moment. And about the Delta plane have been purchased by Swiftair (with a ATR72) to expatriate illegal inmigrants to their countries by the Ministry of Interior

And about the A310, well. The junk B707 needed to be changed, so I find the A310 a nice replacement, not an Airforce one, but enough for a small power like Spain. The main argument here, in Spain as you know….renting IB planes for VIPS like Tony with BA, or having an own A310, which some people find them faraonic. First, Spain ecconomy can afford having a plane like that for the Royal Air Force, and secondly it could be used in many other tasks (minimizing costs) like troops transport, freight delivery in humanitarian tasks, and even renting for cargo flights. A good decission.:)

The country is shocked. Accidents do happen…but what the hell are our soldier being taken in an ukranian rickety plane?. Of course accidents do happen. But when one refuels in a very conflictiv airport (surounded by mountains), without any navigation aids, with permament bad weather, and with a plane which doesn´t have no TCAS; GWPS and other and whose procedures seem to be risky….the accident is something expected. I wonder if the Spanish Air Force A310 couldn´t have taken them or an Iberia or other decent charte plane. I am really upset. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN AVERTED. My condolence to the family and respect for these militars, whose main duty is keeping peace, defusing mines, helping poor communities, giving food and medicine assistance and support to people who need it. Really disturbing event. Here you are the web of the airline involved

I suppose many people think that being a militar is a risk and having crashes in part of their risk, while civilians implies women, children….I don´t know, why some people think that. But life is life and specially when talking about a peace keeping force which risk their lives to bring hope to poor communities, either defusing mines, bringing food or medical supplies, or giving them their very best in moments of griefs like in Afganistan. Thanks for your support.

Probably at the final stages of their Iberia deals, but initially 100% of the crew were not Spaniards. Never flown with them, but this news came out everyday on the newspapers.

And also operated by Air Atlanta in behalf for Iberia. Funny flights, iceland crews and fight attendants at that time, for a Spananiards passengers who didn´t speak english and of course no Icelander. Do you image it?; The plane was a regular flyer to Cuba: The people complained for flying with these crews and the deal with Air Atlanta was cancelled.

Looks great. The main problem with regional aircraft is racks…usually over the passengers heads, which seem to be falling on them. But this time, the dimensions look OK. I find carrying baggage to the cabin, a bad habbit. I do hate people taking those trolleys, and setting them over my head. Airlines should definitely forbid them. In case of sudden turbulence, hard landing this things could be very dangerous of falling down. I myself almost had a severe head injury in a rough landing due to one of this trolleys. Besides, in case of evacutation, people tend to get them and bock exits and aisles. Airlines are just walking on the knife edge, only for not annoying irresponsible passengers. One day, people will die because others will want to take their bellongings out in a crash.

Really cosy indeed. I hope the cabin section be “human” in terms if space.

Initially Hubs are prefered by airlines since costs are reduced and point to point flights (prefered by passengers) implies extra crews, extra costs….But both systems are complentary since each airport varies and sometimes a mixed concept is useful.
