RE: Iraq; a question of oil.

Of course all countries tend to value the lifes of their citizens first. Inmoral but normal. I feel it´s pretty good defending our own citizens, and I don´t put any country as an example, probably the US comes out because it´s the most powerful country in the world, and it´s the one with more capacity to defend its citizens. I always feel upset when for example a plane crashes and the media usually say….”fortunately no Spaniards on board”…so no problem. This just drives me crazy. I suppose you´re right in thinking that defending your nationals for a noble cause could be worthy. But I suppose here comes the problem….What´s a noble cause?. I am sure, that any thug blowing civilians in Israel is convinced that his cause it´s worthy and it´s defending his citizens with a noble cause. It´s hard to decide, if defending our citizens upon the lifes of other serve to defend the human rights. I think a democracy with high values, being Europe, the US, Japan, should make a careful decision and balance everthing. If everything is global, human life consideration and appreciation should be global and universal. That´s the best way to defend human rights everywhere. Of course, dear Vortex, I don´t have an oppinion in that point, and my views are personal.:-) I still remember when we simply ignored the Tutsi-Hutus massacre some years ago. Just a few days on TV.

So as a neutral country, wise policy of having a mixed feet Boeing/Airbus. The best of both worlds. Sounds smart.

RE: Iraq; a question of oil.

Well Vortex, I prefer to think that I democracies like Europe, the US and other participating in conflicts with ditators are in higher moral ground and can´t responde in the same way. So in war I don´t think everything is valid. We don´t know, because we don´t have any magic ball what it would be if the nukes weren´t dropped. If the Japs and Hitler commited atrocities, we can´t commit them. If Hitler bombed civilian cities, we can´t find justification in bombing Dresdem for instance knowing that there were only civilians. Wars are terrible, but no necessary that dirty.

    >Typical Redneck arogance..

I am not quite sure about the real meaning of this sentence. Do you mean…I am a lousy commie?. You would be surprised how conservative I could be.

Sure you´re are right. It should apply to anyone, including the US. Historically the UNSC has been vetoed, boycoited BY ALL OF HIS MEMBERS according to their interests.

RE: School can be so cruel!

I never attend to any of these. Life is like an onnion with different layers. Some stages of life should be closed if we don´t want to open the Pandora box or bringing back ghosts of our life which could be negative for our present existence. Funny nicknames, former girlfriends in front of our wives, the bullies, secret confidences, what others thought of us. In the last one I went. Everybody was trying to show off in front of others. The successfull ones were a pain, the losers didn´t even look up and remembering such a clumpsy time, make us saying stupid things like:
    “it seems yesterday when….”
    “life passes quickly…”
    “physical deterioration”
And the photos of the family being showed around….puajjj.

RE: What Are You Scared Of?

The reason for my snake fear is that I was bitten by one (non poisoned one) as I was a kid in Brazil. Now I have tried to overcome that but I can´t even watch them on TV or even touch a picture of them on a magazine. Fears tend to be unreasonable, so no really an strategy to fight them. I get really unconfortable in small and closed spaces. Besides I hate shortminded people who think they know a lot.
“A little knowledge, is a dangerous thing”.
“No hay nada peor que un pendejo con iniciativa” (for those who understand Spanish)
