RE: London City – Brilliant Airport

Lovely indeed, except for the 5,5 glide angle. It makes really step angles at landing. In any case, cosy, familiar, human….my favourite one.

RE: What can´t you stand about your country?

I am just starting to perceive what I had expected. Problems are global, and human beings are really alike at least as far as daily problems are concerned. It doesn´t matter what nationality we have, we suffer from the same set of incoveniences.

Good suggestion. We all wonder why they always achieve what they wnat. Pilots in Iberia…are like God….You don´t know how powerful they are.

RE: AF and low budget airlines

Bad for French consumers. I suppose it´s due to France is not a country famous for liberalizing markets. And Air France, it´s a part of France. I think the grips of the airline in the country are still too strong for a real competition. But time comes, and under the EU regulation, many sectors have to allow other operators in their market. Lufthansa Empire is fading and in France Low cost will have to be accepted, whatever AF likes it or not. In Spain things are slightly different. There are not real oposition to Iberia. But Iberia is private and wants to participates in the low cost market. So I anounce a new low cost called Iberia Express. But the main problem is that the Pilots trade union which is really strong won´t allow a shift of flights from Iberia to Iberia Express and it´s expected that it happens what happened with Viva Air. The first low cost, belonging to IB but closed for that reason. I hope, now, being a private airline the CEO will be able to broke the pilots backmail.

I have to congratulate you Mongu for such an interesting topic. It makes us see, how the same thing could be perceived in different cultures. I was packing my luggage to go to a Health Spa for a week. I switched on the TV before leaving at “News at three”. It has just happened. I saw a fire and thought…oh, the next Hollywood film advert?. Then I realized it was real. I wasn´t impressed at the beginning because it seemed an Spectacular but not serious crash. Then I saw the B767 coming and the people screaming…I couldn´t move. I was really impressed them….when the WTC collapsed, I turned the TV off and went to the SPA, because I couldn´t stand such horror. I just wondered….WHO?. And waited breathless the US retaliation. And at this time, I was surprised how carefull and wise the US administration has been, dealing with the crisis and waiting. Now I can´t stand watching the images.

RE: WORLDS MOST POWERFUL NATIONS – 2003!!!

I haven´t answered because I don´t think a strong militar force determines if a country is powerful or not. There are many other factors…money, influences, population, resources, and even cultural dominance and linguistic influence.

i hope it lasts more than Colour Airlines. I suppose long distances in Scandinavia make plane travelling essential.

    RE: Home-cooking

You would be surprised about how great could the Traditional English cooking be. Fantastic toast, delicious puddings and desserts, prime cuts and wonderful country kitchen. About Spanish cooking there are too many things. Galician cooking tend to be natural. Seafood, beef, and nice stews. No paella, no tortilla, no sangria. And almond cake

The transatlantic of the skies…really impressive. A kind of a jumbo jet of the time with berths. Despite its populary among passengers it was like a flying coffin, since the propeller got off from the engine axil, cause a catastrophic failure.

    RE: New Newark Name

Loving one´s country is an obvious reaction, because we have grown up and got educated in a certain place, absorved things from it and thats a good and positive feeling. This love must be humble and generous, and not setting one´s country in the top of the pyramid as the best thing. There´s not good or bad countries, simply different.
Being a patriotic doesn´t necessary mean that you love your country. Only someone who is able to accept the limitations of his own country, is able to improve them. Excesive love, patriotism, flag waving and no dirty spots means that things are fine in our country and nothing need to be changed. For me, and that how we feel, and for it a personal perception, is a bit xenophobe, parrochial and quite radical because this “proudness” to be….means in a way, or at least in our subconscious….”we are the best…..so I am proud to be like that because others are inferior”. One could be happy to be from a certain place, but never proud. We haven´t been responsible for being born in this or that country. And only things in which we are responsible are reason to be proud, a career, a picture, and so on.
