    Brilliant! Thanks airgage :).
That sound is very distinctive, absolutely delightful. I hope I get to hear it for real at an airshow soon!

This sounds encouraging. Hopefully a resolution will be achieved which serves all party’s interests. Good luck to all involved.

    Cees,

There are a couple of aircraft which would arouse interest with groups in the UK of which most of us are aware of. The Stirling and the Whitley. Although I cannot speak on behalf of these groups, I would have thought the expense of salvaging aircraft of this size could be quite prohibitive. Lottery bids anyone? (well to me it’s a good cause)!
Anyway, I am not sure who would be able to lay claim, to say, a potentially complete Stirling? Would the RAF museum get first refusal? What would Hendon do with it anyway? Perhaps they will clear a space next to the Halifax and have another ‘crashed’ diorama. 🙁

By the way, any hints as to which 5 aircraft you are investigating? 😉

Thanks for all the replies! I will have to listen out for it next time I see a Hunter display. 🙂
Andy, I like nostalgia! I always find aircraft such as these flying over my back garden especially memorable. I suppose it is something about it being unexpected, unlike at an airshow where you know and wait for the next aircraft to perform.

Thanks Archer, I wish them well with their endeavour.

As for other reproductions, check the P-26 project as mentioned on the WIX board a little while ago. Another interesting type. 🙂

As for most ambitious, the project to create a replica Hp42 has just been launched, and when that takes off for the first time I think it would be a major milestone as up untill now the Vimy is probably the largest flying replica around.

What’s this? Have I missed something? I’ve not heard of this one before. Information anyone?

Lightning F6 (XP693) circa 1987. I believe this aircraft is now in South Africa?

Thanks for the link David. I was trying to find some information on their Beaufighter not so long ago. Shame to see it’s in storage :(.
I was hoping for some progress. Oh well, one day.

Seen the centre-page picture of Shuttleworth’s Hawker Hind K5414? Quality :).
    Check it out!
