I visited both sites last year, There are still parts of both aircraft scattered on the ground, some geodetics from the Wellington and other assorted pieces including some shards of wood, please remember though if you visit this site there were fatalitles so please show respect and leave it as you found it. As for the Lanc, The crew all escaped by parachute, The Lanc went in inverted and there are still scattered remains there, including pieces of melted aluminium, assorted bits and pieces that are not really recognisable and some undercariage parts that are quite large and the remains of small bundles of ‘window’, I have been given a small access panel from the wing from this aircraft that was recovered a little while back and it is at present next to my computer desk. I intend to make a model of this Lanc and display it with the part.
Oh, and this is in no way intended to put people off visiting the Lanc site but watch out for the resident Adder, He’s quite defensive of his patch and lets you know, Lucky for me I’m used to being around snakes.
