oh the west dosn’t have the moral or ethical clout to judge China eh?
Nope. China is a different culture with different values. The West has no right to look at China or any other nation and say “adopt our values or else”.
Virginia probably flies a lot more for two reasons: the state is a lot bigger, and they do use airborne radar to detect speeders on the highway. Your state troopers/highway patrolmen are typically operating on the highways to find speeders, while county troopers handle law enforcement in their county.
I’ll add anything else I can think of later.
The current theory is that the nickname comes from the location where they embark and disembark passengers at the airport in Las Vegas: Just Another Non Existant Terminal. 😀
Watched Gabriel yesterday. It’s a very enjoyable low-budget sci-fi from Australia but don’t let that put you off. This has joined my list of favorite independent sci-fi films alongside Cube,The Thirteenth Floor and,of course,Dark City.
Haven’t seen Gabriel, but the others you list are great movies. Cube and Cube Zero are some of my all-time favorite movies (Cube 2 wasn’t quite as good as the other two). Have you seen Screamers with Peter Weller? That’s probably my favorite low-budget sci-fi flick, Phillip K. Dick’s writings seem to make for great movies. They’re shooting a sequel right now to Screamers in Canada.

Kazakhstan maintaining control over the MiG-31 unit at Semipalatinsk was part of the agreement involving transfer of the Tu-95s back to Russia after the breakup of the USSR.
The ending of The Mist indeed is absolutely brilliant! Very good King-flic, really.
I watched this last night. Very good movie. The ending was brilliant, but very, very disturbing. Don’t know why, it just was. Actually the whole movie was pretty disturbing, and I don’t mean the bits where people got eaten. If you want something that will mess with your mind, this is it. Definitely not a family movie night choice though, and again, not because of people getting eaten. Let’s put it this way. You’d rather be a Holocaust survivor than be that guy at the end of the movie. That’s how foul the ending was. Really, really disturbing, but damn, that was a great movie.

Can you actually get a B-2 or F-22A slot right out of UPT? I thought they were still programs that you had to have a set number of hours and apply for?
Golly’s sum up effort: Basicly he is saying that liberals and leftwingers are all bad as they tries to teach kids about global warming in the language which kids would (in their obinion) understand.
In his defense he did state that there is a lot of crap on both sides of the fence on this or any other issue.
Anyway, here’s a brief summary:
-Environmentalist policies have increased the likelihood and occurrence of wildfires in the USA
-Politically correct school teachers are using really awful tactics to pass on their agenda to children, even after NASA has proven that their reasoning is inaccurate
-Algore is a massive hypocrite with his $30,000/year electrical bill for his home
-The flourescent bulbs that are the new green/PC rage are in actuality dangerous health hazards and pose an interesting and expensive problem when they need to be disposed of
Should we take care of the environment? Well duh, we don’t want to end up poisoning everyone do we?
Should we abolish the PC movement? Emphatically, yes, it causes more harm then good and basically amounts to social engineering and control by one faction in a society that is supposed to be based on equal representation.

711 was a testbed for N011M BARS..
I have only seen one picture of 712. Anyone got some more to share?
There are quite a few in Yefim Gordon’s recent massive book on the FLANKER.
The one that crashed was a Su-37 “Terminator” 711 not Su-35
It was built as an Su-35. I believe 711 and 712 were initially used for radar trials if I remember right.
The aircraft was retroffited with conventional AL-31F engines and different avionics back in 2000 and redesignated to Su-35 again. As such the aircraft crashed in december 2002.
When it was re-engined with standard AL-31Fs again they modified the flight control system. The jet was able to perform the thrust-vectoring Su-37’s display routine without a problem. That right there is a testament to the design of the aircraft and the ability of Sukhoi to master complicated FCS software. Modern FCS software isn’t necessarily an easy concept to grasp either, remember the problems the Gripen had early on?
Can you please elaborate??
He might be referring to the fact that a lot of the early jets had differences in the positioning of the horizontal tailfins and variances in both the stinger fairing and the junction where the fins joined the vertical tail. I think that once those issues were sorted out that all the jets were modified to the correct standard though. Remember, early on, the Tu-160’s EW suite found in the tail section worked about as well as the EW suite of the B-1B. The B-1B had software problems if I remember right, but the Tu-160 had airframe vibration issues on the back end due to the fin junction mentioned before that was destroying EW gear in the jets tail. That was why they tried a bunch of different configurations before settling on the one that worked without self-killing the onboard EW components.
Maybe they’re some obscure form, to us, of interstellar planning notices. Perhaps the Vogons are building the Hyperspace By-pass after all, I’d better go up to Sainsburies and get some peanuts, cans of bitter and hope that Ford Prefect turns up pretty quickly.
It’s not the Vogons, it’s the Thone. Do let us know if you see any errant seaweed in your parts 😀
might go trawl through it now for giggles.
That’s about all it’s good for. Any site that gives Bob Lazar a place to rant about aliens in the Nevada desert has serious issues
