That’s pretty amusing, we should send it to Mythbusters 😀

During your attack on Serbia you launched no less the 100 HARMS against serbian IMMOBILE antennas, and you missed all 100 of them.
Those HARMs are not the same HARMs we use today. HARMs back then did have the notorious ability to go retarded if the radar signal was cut off. Seeker modifications and GPS additions have given the current model HARMs the ability to accurately home onto the position of a deactivated radar emitter and still kill it.
if the radar has to shut down, then the HARM has done its job. You can’t base its effectiveness solely on destruction, but on its ability to protect air packages from being targeted.
Hence the difference between SEAD and DEAD…SEAD being Suppression and DEAD being Destruction. Of Enemy Air Defenses, of course.
Didn’t Sukhoi fly an Su-30MK (the original one, no TVC or whatnot) demo at Paris or Farnborough with the jet fully fueled and fully fitted with weapons to demonstrate the agility at heavy weights?
Link?

Note that this is the JASSM, not the JASSM-ER. It is not, however, currently integrated with the F-15E, and as such has no bearing on this discussion.
AGM 158 – isn’t even in service.
Yes, it is.
Also interesting is the fact that the EF-2000 is not being considered. Anyone know why? Was it not offered, or was it outside the price range?
Wasnt it Type 65 with otto fuel which lead to the Kursk disaster ?
I thought it was a Shkval that exploded?
I already asked somewhere else, but so far without any explanation …
Does anyone know what this H-6 – looks like an early machine – has on its tail ??? … at first I ws thinking about something like a ECM-/ or ESM-pod but IMO surely not a RATO/JATO Bottles as suggested otherwise … even if they look similar
Cheers, Deino
Not RATO/JATO, they aren’t angled right. As situated there you’ll get forward thrust but no downward thrust vector to provide the added lift you’re trying to get from RATO/JATO to shorten the takeoff roll. I wonder if it’s the right diameter to be a MANPADS launcher for tail defense?
What unit is that H-6 with, any ideas? That’ll get me on track to figure things out perhaps.
Not really a big deal internationally speaking, it did stay outside British airspace.
The Neustrashimy was due there since weeks, if not months, and it nothing to do with the recent incident, because, again, the ship is Ukrainian, the tanks are Ukrainian (ex-Sov.), and the deal (probably with South Soudan) is Ukrainian.

Russia seems to be sending the Neustrashimy for support.
Quite a few nations are looking to buy new fighters, Romania for example, and India; could the RAF shed a few Typhoons this way?
Funny would have been trying to offload enough for one or two squadrons to Libya, but that would probably have been “politically unacceptable”.
As would selling hardware to the Libyans 😀
It is only the Russian who can bring new technologies to world.
Just compare Su-22 to Su-27. In less than 10 years they did it without advance computing and manufacturing technoloigies.
The Su-22 was a developed variant of the Su-17. Comparing the Su-17 to the Su-27 would be more logical. And you’re ignoring the fact that the original T-10 was pretty much a failure and had to be nearly entirely redesigned!
This has the potential to be an interesting discussion as more and more information begins to trickle out, as it invariably will with Russia’s eventual desire to become a major exporter of 5G fighters, so why can’t we keep all of the nationalistic BS, “mine is bigger than yours” comparisons, and “plane X is better because it comes earlier/later and/or is from country A instead of country B” nonsense out of it?
