It’s the marble SOC, the flying marble.

Hmm. I’ll have to run the MATLAB program on that one, but I’m not sure if a marble has an RCS that small.

If it does have the RCS “of a marble”, someone is retarded for making that statement. The sheer volume of open source publications dealing with RCS prediction and LO design is actually more voluminous than one might think, and some of the publications come with these nice handy CDs with modelling software :diablo:

The PAF has selected 3-4 Il-78 Midas tankers for refuelling duties, the first of which should be with the PAF in a couple of months time. However, this still leaves a secondary requirment for refuelling the F-16, which I’m guessing will be privided by surplus ex-USAF KC-135 tankers? The KC-10 would have been a more suitable choice with extra pods on the wngs, as that would have allowed refuelling of mixed JF-17 and F16 formations from a single platform

There is an Israeli drop tank that features a probe enabling F-16s to use the hose-and-drogue refueling method. Maybe that’s an option, and then you can rely solely on the MIDAS tankers. KC-10s? Not a chance, they’re overused in the USAF as it is. KC-135s? Equally unlikely if you ask me. You don’t want an E model that’ll last for about five minutes, and the R models are being used and abused! Plus, with the state of the tanker program for the USAF, they may not want to be parting with any air refueling assets anytime soon anyway

Perhaps the best choice would’ve been an Airbus or Boeing tanker design, complete with both boom and wingtip drogue pods? More expensive, not available quite as quickly, but it’d have worked, in theory, with the whole fleet. The only question is whether Pakistan needs two different tankers due to potentially different probes and drogue interfaces on the Western and Eastern fighters and A/R aircraft.

If they think the HTK system is accurate enough, maybe ditch the warhead altogether? Also, more advanced and lighter avionics can sometimes make a significant difference in weight as well.

Yeah, god forbid freedom of speech on a forum.

Set up your own forum with your own rules, it can be done for free even. Everyone posting here agreed to the rules as a condition of membership, so I have to ask what’s wrong with expecting people to follow them and act civilly to one another?

Besides, this is Key Publishing’s forum, a bunch of intellectual lightweights running around slagging people in a public forum may look bad.

If you want a forum where there appears to be a different set of “rules”, I can offer one uppp :diablo:

    Gee thanks, Sean!

Hey now, my name is down there too on this board 😀

Back to the issue at hand…

We just had our umpteenth attack in India, traced via forensic evidence & intel to their handlers back in Pak.

And that is precisely what I was referring to.

ISI (Inter Services Intelligence) which runs the terror campaign in India and supports the Talibs with logistics and training

Is there any direct evidence linking the ISI to the Taliban or other anti-Coalition extremists hiding in Pakistan? I ask not because I doubt your claim but because Vikasrehman was right and this is one part of the world where I admittedly am not as up to date as I could be.

The more relevant question is why did the US send ground forces to raid a house on the pakistani side of the border and kill 20 civilians including women and children.

My initial thought is that they thought someone was there that was potentially important enough to try and take alive. I do have to wonder just what went on, because I doubt that the SOF guys just walked into a house, found no insurgents, and simply gunned down the occupants.

On the other hand, I cannot honestly say that there is absolutely no chance that they didn’t provoke or create an environment resulting in a gunfight to try and get out with no witnesses to their presence. Obviously if that was their goal, they failed, but it is an interesting line of thought.

SM – The Su-27 is a very maneuverable aircraft, making it perfect for dogfights. I remember when it was first demonstrated some time ago, one American pilot made a comment which has become a sort of a slogan for us.

He said, “If you encounter a SU-27 in a dogfight the only thing you can do is eject.” This was said about the first generation SU-27

Where’s the context? A military pilot back when the FLANKER was first shown performing obscene aerobatics at Paris in 1989 may have been referring not only to the aircraft but to the combination of aircraft, HMS, and R-73. A fighter that can do absurd maneuvering at an airshow is a piece of junk in combat if the weapon system isn’t viable.

    Attention moderator!
    1.This thread does’nt belong here.
2.A verbal war is going to start in no time.

    1. Whoops. You’re absolutely right, I thought I put this in General Discussion. I’ll self moderate and fix that.

    2. Only if immaturity reigns.

Hundreds of Pakistani troops have died in battles against Taleban and their tribal supporters over the recent years? Hundreds of terrorists have been killed or arrested and handed over to US by Pakistan. Would you label that as overt or covert support of terrorism?

You’re thinking with blinders on. I didn’t say Pakistan supported the Taliban or AQ specifically, I said they supported terrorism. Pakistani-backed militants are under the US radar because they aren’t blowing up American targets.

Really? Care to show what exactly was wrong in that piece of report and what “told” on SOC? Curious.

Half the problem is that the article has changed three times so far since I posted it, as it is expanding as more is revealed.

You seriously need to cut down on FAUX ..err FOX News:D, Its reflecting on your views nowadays.

Eh, that’s just the first place I saw it online. To be honest I haven’t actually watched a news program that doesn’t involve ESPN in around a year. All of it is overdone and severely biased to one side or the other. I needed a link with the general facts though, and this is what I found.

And the thing about the Russian satanists eating teenagers was in the Top Viewed bar on the right of the screen, I couldn’t resist seeing just what in the hell that was all about!

SOC your title to begin with is misleading, they havnt been ordered to attack americans but to attack anybody who violates the border.

Thsi wasn’t directed at the Coalition, it wasn’t directed at Afghanistan, it was derected at the United States.

And secondly I think this is news for domestic consumption after all the missile strikes this week normal people in the NWFP are not feeling safe from a government whos meant to protect them.

Yeah but after all that’s happened, there is going to come a time when the people don’t feel safe behind words anymore. Then what does the government do?

I think also your over reacting, pakistani PM basically ruled out a military response and said diplomatic channels would be taken, I think stopping or delaying NATO supplies through the country would have more of an impact than firing onto intruders.

The PM said he didn’t think there would be any more cross-border incidents, not that he wouldn’t do it if needbe.

Also there is alot going on we dont know about, I have a feeling the americans and pakistanis have a tacit agreement on missile strikes so the locals dont turn against the pakistan army, but this is a double edge sword if they are seen not to be doing enough to protect them then they will fall into the talebans hands and go against both american and pakistani army.

I would’ve thought we had a deal on missiles for a while now.

And to finish off every country has a right to defend its sovereignty and its citizens, if you come into someones home uninvited then dont be shocked when you are fired at.

    I don’t disagree.
