The disrepair just seemed very widespread. But, there probably isn’t a lot they can do.

Flood- the pictures came out great! Next time we’ll go into the hangers…especially that WW2 one the guide was talking about.

At which point St. Nick laughed and handed Ole’ Darth a lump of coal, laid a finger aside his nose and with a twitch and a wink out the airship he went…

Hmmmmm…. but surely the USA would have tacitly welcomed the removal of British interests in the Pacific? One economic and trading rival less, after all.

So long as US strategic and economic interests weren’t under threat, I don’t think they would have lifted a finger.

Not necessarily true; with Japan and Germany in full control of Europe and the Southern Pacific, Americas only powerful ally would have been Britain. To snub them would be taking the chance of Japan and Hitlers Europe with all their newly aquired resources forming a coalition with the USSR and even China that would be firmly Anti-Western. Were that to happen US interests in the Pacific would be moot, Britains as well, to not keep that alliance strong would be, again, suicide.

Imagine this scenario – if the Japanese had attacked Singapore, Hong Kong, Indonesia, New Guinea and all the other places where they eventually invaded in 1941-1942, and kept coming southwards – BUT had not attacked the US at all and not declared hostilities with the USA, would the Yanks have gotten involved? Or would they have continued to sit neutrally on the fence and happily see the western Pacific and Asia become a Japanese empire?

    There’s an interesting twist.

I don’t think so. If my history serves me, even at the time of Pearl Harbor the White House was being pushed by more and more citizens, not to mention Europe to get involved. If Japan had gone that route instead, and combined with Hitlers advancements, the US still would have been forced to take a role. Or be faced with the entire Eastern hemisphere as an enemy. To not take a role at that point would be like committing suicide. There wouldn’t be a choice.

The outcome would still be the same, yes?

I noticed that the planes didn’t seem to be very well maintained, and of course it has to do with the elements somewhat… But it seemed kind of sad. The only protection they had was paint or tape over the windows. Is it normal for these historic and one of a kind planes to be so…well, left?

As long as it’s outside or I believe they still allow it in bars. But other than said bars- not inside anywhere.
