Please don’t insult well-intentioned honest people on this forum. In fact,it is quite possible that some people might think the same about you!

Here are a couple of photos of the Hawkins and Powers fleet
1 N9701F C-82A Ontos, March 2003
2 N9701F C-82 when in sevice with TWA ,taken at Orly late 60s/early 70s
3 N1365N ,the magnificent KC-97G taking off on a test flight March 2003
4 A line up of PBY4Y Privateers,N2872G nearest March 2003
The C-82 is the famous ‘Ontos'(N9701F) that used to be based at Orly in the 1960s by TWA for ferrying engines around Europe and became a familiar sight at Heathrow. If ever an aircraft should be preserved, this must be it.
Back to the problems caused by mobile phones.I don’t know about the spark risk from mobile phones, but they DO cause radio interference problems.I work in Air Traffic at a major airport and mobile phones are not to be switched on in the ops.room because of the possible risk to radio transmissions. This is an instruction from our Tels.department so they should know what they are talking about! As you are no doubt aware ,mobile phones are not to be used on an aircraft and have to be switched off until inside the terminal building at major airports. There are several well documented reports of aircraft electronic instruments being affected by mobile phones
In my opinion the young lad at Flying Legends was doing his duty correctly as the flight line walk is extremely adjacent to the live aircraft. Also there are signs at the etrance to the Flight Line walk stating no smoking and no phones!
A couple more from Farnnborough ’92.The Yak 38,followed by yhe Tu 22M
I agree that the 1992 Farnborough show was the last one worth going to.Here is a pic of the Yak-141

The chute was normally dropped when clear of the runway and collected by the airfield ops vehicle. It was only used in adverse brakeing conditions as the early Caravelles didn’t have reverse thrust.
I will scan a few more slides later tonight.
