The answer to your question about how I gained access is very surreptitiously!The woman who looked after the yard had a couple of huge dogs,but towards the end of the yard’s life access was much easier.The yard was cleared completely in March 1981 to make the area tidier for a parkland scheme.A few of the airframes were saved,Swift WK198,Brigand RH746 ,2 Balliol cockpit sections and 1 or 2 Firely front fuselages,but the rest were broken up and carted away to be molten down.Several Firefly fuselages were moved to the company’s other yard in Salford but I don’t know their fate.
