Awesome news 🙂 I was trying not to get my hopes up about this box….but it seems my instinct is right 😮
if you do find that photo please let me know
Cheers,
Chris
Ok, heres the rest of the information

Serial is 40-3083
Which according to a quick Google search places it as a Pearl Harbour B-17D destroyed Dec 7 1941.
Now how it got to Australia is lost…i’m just happy that I saved it from the rubbish dump 🙂
Still looking for a photo of the plane to print out to put with it though if anyone might have one.
Cheers,
Chris
Hi all, today I found some stamped part numbers on it.
One side has what appears to be 6-6569
and the other side has 15-6999-8
I’m starting to excite my good feeling vibes again as those numbers are in the range on a B-17G armament area but if my info is correct it may be B-17 C or D
Nice, I was assuming that it might have been the AGS 953 equivalent 🙂 Glad to see someone else on the same wavelength.
Any Hawker experts here who might identify the other piece??
heheheh censorship gone mad!! :p
So anybody have an idea what that are except for a ****penis
it seems down to me too 🙁
If the surface is fundamentally sound, and not breaking up at all, clean it off with a mild detergent, and once dry, apply brown wax boot polish. Buff and repeat. Will look lovely.
Bruce
Thanks for the input so far guys….. what if the surface is not that great 🙁 it appears a few “stress” cracks are appearing and parts of the seat are appearing “chalky”
Nice find !!!
Wouldn’t mind one myself 🙂
But I can’t see the year and date stamps from your photo. Are they in fact blank?
.
You are quite correct they are indeed blank
oooh and it glows real well too BRIGHT green.
Would this help any??

Cheers,
Chris
Mk2e was an upgrade of the Mk1E which was used in Meteors. The main difference between the 1e and 2e is the Barostatic release if my memory serves me correct. I’ll have to go digging through my manuals to pinpoint the difference between an E and H model though.
I contacted Martin Baker in my quest to find out about my ex RAAF Mk1E a few times my snail mail and via email and have never had a reply either 🙁
There is the remains of one (210) just up the road from me that I have visited and photographed on numerous occasions at Toorbul,QLD. I’ve also on a few occasions photographed the one in WA near Rockingham.
Visit http://www.ozatwar.com/raaf/210radar.htm to see a picture of my legs on one of my trips out to Toorbul Radar station .
Cheers,
Chris
ROFLMAO
You think a spit is bad… EVERY piece on the Boomerang was pretty much individually drilled for each specific aircraft …ie NO JIGS!!! So taking one piece off one plane and fitting it to another does not guarantee success!! Such is the joy of restoring them :p
