Needless to say thank goodness this didn’t happen over ground otherwise we’d probably be looking at fatalities. Could be a similar thing that happened to the Ryanair plane at Ciampino last year.

Seems as though the pilot has done well in doing the controlled ditching – seems so weird to see a ‘whole’ airplane in the water rather than one all broken up.

Very nice. The last one is my personal favourite.

I spent one of the best holidays of my life a couple of years ago in the Lakes. Can’t remember where exactly where I went but Ambleside rings a few bells. It truly is a stunning part of the country. Looking forward to a few photos, if you have any.

Very good ad and enjoyed the nostalgic theme a lot. However I was distinctly underwhelmed by VS when I flew with them in 07.

    Excellent couple of shots, Tom.

I too am eagerly awaiting the rest of them. 🙂

Still awaiting the news of the second phase of the Gatwick expansion. Perhaps this has been slightly delayed due to Aer Lingus’ decision to open a base?

Great shots. The orange paint that EZY are using on those ex-GB planes is shocking. Think it looks so unprofessional but I suppose a full proper repaint is not seen viable given their short spell in the fleet.

Nice shots. When I drove past LHR earlier today it was clear blue sky! Typical, eh?

Nice shots & good advice from those in the know! Never even knew we had Montenegro Airlines at Gatwick!

I always prefer LGW on 08R operations as it allows more intimacy with the aircraft and also the choice of ground and/or air shots. Also it’s good all day – just a shame there are no nearby facilities. Ah well.

Excellent photos. I particularly enjoy that angle you get at MAN, it just makes the planes seem so beautiful. 🙂
I also enjoyed the EY shots and the Thomson pic.

    What planes they basing there?

    4 x A320s I believe.

However does this mean a downsizing of other bases in order to accommodate LGW into the schedules?

Like Peter, I like to sit on the side where the sun isn’t (if that makes sense). There’s nothing worse for me than being in the cruise with the sun shining straight through the window that you’re next to. I always feel a bit of a fool wearing sunglasses on a plane so I have to close the blind, which is obviously no good if I want to look outside etc…

However, if I have a particular photography interest I may do some prior research to establish which runway would be in use and that would then determine where I sit.

Look quite good. Actually thought the plane looked like one of the ‘Jungle Jets’ for about 1 second before I realised what I was actually looking at! :).

I suppose the winglets increase range as a result of the increased fuel efficiency. I know that A321s can’t reach places like Egypt fully loaded from the UK, so I presume that charter airlines, for instance, could be quite interested if these could be fitted (?) .
