If anyone wasn’t already aware – there’s an excellent Video on Youtube showing the move including the positioning on it’s final plinth in darkness 😮

If I’m not mistaken – Classic Flight who were/are at Coventry and moving to Newquay had a pair of underwing tanks on their Vampire until it was decided to remove them as part of the means to avoid having to have live ejector seats fitted, which I’m sure I read about not that long ago in a magazine article?
So if they don’t have them fitted anymore – may be worth an enquiry….

Edit – yep it used to have them: http://www.abpic.co.uk/photo/1008192/

I live in Malmesbury – so it looks like it was flying in a line from Swindon to Bristol (Filton) – not as per the advertised route, which IIRC was from Staverton to Filton…..
    Ken

As revealed at the last minute on their Twitter feed, it popped over to Kemble enroute to carry out a DA which couldn’t be pre-advertised….. then left to carry on as per the published plan….

I have a large image file of the TWU crest which I will happily email you if you PM me your email address?

Bizzarely I also have the original metal stencil set for applying this same crest 🙂

Having worked on these JP’s at Brawdy for some years, I can’t remember what or if they had stencilled lettering on the fin – even my extensive photo archive can’t confirm that either?

With regards to who the JP’s were allocated to – welll they were based at Brawdy under the FAC (Forward Air Control) remit under JFACTSU. Flown by 79 Sqn crew as and when tasked. I am still in touch with one particular pilot of ours who flew our JP’s more than most….
