That looks amazing – when you look back to it’s condition when rescues from North Luffenham it’s hard to think of it as the same airframe! 😀
Would look good alongside a certain T7 in the same colours…. :diablo:
I would agree – look at this better angle shot showing what does appear to be a scoop fitted: LINK
Very interesting link – thanks for posting 🙂
Hunter Single Seat and /or Hunter T7 ones would find a good home on two particular Hunters I am familiar with….. if any should come up thanks! 🙂
No photos I’m afraid?
Bit of Video has been uploaded of Bruce’s arrival with these…
I’ve seen that figure of “14,000” jobs before with this Gateway project – can’t for the life of me see how that would ever happen given the country’s financial situation and lack of investors ready waiting in the wings to relocate to this if it ever gets fully built?
All a bit far-fetched and likely to have a load of empty modern structures covered in “Unit To Let” signs….
Could it be at his Derelict Museum that the OP first posted about HERE? :diablo:
Oh yeah :diablo:
Fly her down to the falklands, positioned as a ‘gate guard’ but leave a note for any would-be enemy troops trying to take over – saying “P.S> this one’s live and still capable” 😮
Please excuse my moment of silliness but that little thought just fell into my head when reading the above 😀
Lossiemouth – it’s last in-service home?
Waddington – 8 Sqn’s home? (now THAT would make an interesting addition to the annual airshow if ground run :D)
I realise that both the above are active RAF bases with all their own issues of access to work on her, plus location issues to get crew to work on her… but trying to think of related locations in my head that’s all 🙂
The engines ARE one of the issues – mentioned in the document they linked to, which details all the issues surrounding the life extension studies:

It certainly does show the old Alvis site as ‘up for demolition’ which to me does seem odd considering it’s location away from the mainstream development, but these plans have been ammended a few times already since I began watching them. My own interest stems obviously from my link to the Midland Air Museum, which at one point looked like it was having the car park chopped severely, but on the ammended plans the new road junction seems to have been moved further towards the village and away from the Museum’s car park?
I’ve not been down there for ages due to personal circumstances so unable to find out more directly, hence my keen interest in these online plans….
Personally I’m not that convinced that this massive development is right in our current financial climate, and would hate to see all the work resulting in loads of empty units covered in “To Let” signs as per some other big building projects that seem to go nowhere? But that’s just my humble opinion as an observer.
Stumbled across this piece on Airbase’s website the other day:
That’s a BIG hope to aim for 100,000 visitors a year down in Newquay surely? 😮
