Via a contact who has spoken to the pilot concerned – he is definitely OK….
Edit – posted at same time as previous comment ๐
If anyone is interested in finding out more on Neil’s new venture, we have our website up and running already while the build continues on the replica ๐
I have already linked back to this forum if that’s ok with the Mods on here ๐
OK, time to come clean I think….. ๐ฎ
Yes… Neil is indeed having a full sized replica Spitfire built as we speak, and I’m involved too… ๐
Rather than repeat a load of information on here, please have a look at our website so you can find out more on the latest exciting venture which he’s roped me in to help with…
I stand corrected no problem, as I find this story quite interesting already
For Matt, found when searching for more about this airframe:
http://www.adf-gallery.com.au/gallery/Beaufighter-A8-328/A8_328?full=1
Bit of a shock to find this one of how it ended up when saved:
Spitfire “MX-N” was part of 307th Fighter Squadron (31st Fighter Group) operating Spitfire Mk Vc – all info according to google. Now to identify the specific airframe….
Photo showing the same airframe: HERE
Captioned: “Two pilots of 307th Fighter Squadron, 31st FG, Lt E.D. Schofield and Lt R.F. Sargent in front of one of the unitโs first Spitfires Mk. VC. Westhampnett, 1942.”
Always good to look back at the old thread too:
Chris D, has your friend seen this LINK?
๐ฎ Looks like cockpitfest has all gone down the pan then :diablo:
My partner found the answer:

Aircraft so ugly that the earth repels them.
:diablo:I’m sorry but I just can’t stop laughing at that comment…. no disrespect intended to any egg-whisk likers ok ๐
Great set of photos, and yes it looks very well preserved (complete with a set of sick-bags…lol).
I assume the seats have been deactivated at some point since it’s last flight?
I’m confused – the OP makes a suggestion to upgrade, then in the next post says this one is fine???? Is this trolling – because it looks like it from here…

Latest update concerning Tony’s recovery ๐
I’ve been keeping in touch with Sonja and saw that she posted this latest news tonight on the Bronco facebook page, which is definitely worth sharing!!!!
I am still in awe of how strong a will can be and feel humble for the wonder of lifeโฆ
Visited Tony Friday evening and got following update on his progress:
1. Every day he is sitting in his chair, sometimes even for 6 hours
2. He has been for a stroll down the hall (supported by only 2 nurses!)
3. His room has free entry now and no more protective gear needs to be worn
4. He is looking great and gained some weight
5. Since this week his computer is with him
6. He asked โand got- his computer
7. And he said he wanted to go home and sleep in his own bed ๐After every visit I am amazed on how well he is doing, on how his body is taking up the pace of normal live again and on how my brother is a fighter.
Dear friends, I will be taking a short vacation and leave Tony in the caring hands of Edith, Lynn, Thomas, Ruth and my mum.
As Tony is progressing very well I think that this will probably be the last time I am posting an update ๐
Next message that will appear here will surely be typed by โThe Manโ himself.Take care,
Sonja
