I had a reproduction fitted into XF382 until it went missing? I have an original one somewhere which I used to replicate on my pc – trouble is it’s buried deep in my loft somewhere and it’s unlikely to surface anytime soon I’m afraid.
The photo attached isn’t brilliant – but basically it had Channel numbers on left column, then Station name, then frequency. 3 columns in total….
… and I was thinking it meant a relocation from their base at Rendcomb 😮
Interesting new position that…. :diablo:
Plenty of reading material on a google search, and much of it warns readers to remain sceptical of some of the claims relating to this sort of product. I cannot prove or disprove whether it has been used in Spits and Hurricanes, but it does nothing to alter the continued lack of proven and reliable data on these….
I’ve always firmly believed in interactive displays – as anyone else at MAM knows all to well… 😀 I couldn’t wait to get XF382 powered up and interactive – as I feel that a machine should be used, where practicable, not left static.. Obvious H&S implications these days, but then I’ve always worked to those principles from the start…
If only there was a roof over it’s head, as that would probably lead to more ‘features’ being possible 😉
Mind you, U/C retraction demo’s on a Hunter test your nerve, and could scare a few kids….. it comes down quick and with a jolt….lol
Anyway, I’m busy plotting my return to MAM after a long absence, and hope the old kite is willing to come to life once more 😮
Nearest thing I could find after a bit of searching was an NVQ Level 3 in aeronautical engineering. I applaud the idea of a specialist qualification in restoration, but it might be a bit too restrictive to be cost effective to run.
Mind you, if ever one was created, I am a qualified NVQ Trainer & Assessor – which might be handy…. :diablo:
Why do you ask? No-one’s planning to fly one again are they? 😮
I was just about to say the same – Cottesmore!! The approaching road from the village, married quarters on the left… and the distinctive airfield – I knew I had seen that same view before…lol
And of course, Cottesmore has it’s own period of Canberra operations…. 😀
Saturday 26th January… is it still on?
OK, this thread went quiet…. so is anyone still interested in a meet at Cosford on 26/01/2008 then? 😀
I would be interested in a forum meet at Cosford, but we won’t be able to get into the conservation centre at weekends, more’s the pity…… 😎

Yep, after spending the best part of an hour browsing the entire thread, I totally agree – amazing stuff….
Well done Paul 😀
I remember Air Clues too – rather more of an in-house magazine dealing with MOD related affairs, ie: not for general release if memory serves me correct?
Some of the accident reports were scary….
It is annoying when these reports are published and you cannot read one page at a time without scrolling the pages up and down.
In Adobe Acrobat Reader you can always re-scale the page size to show at whatever text size is suitable?????
How about a formation of Vulcan B52 and Bear at Legends.
Now I like that idea… :p
If Putin keeps his games going – they might as well “divert” one from one of their missions!!! If only the MOD would be happy with that….. 😀 😀
http://www.demobbed.org.uk/ has pics on there at Charlwood showing one complete-ish SHAR ZE698. The others look stripped of spares
Have you checked out the Demobbed pages Ben?
