    Hi Les,

yep,not the easiest of places to stick a camera – my tiny camera phone only just managed to capture it – but then I wasn’t planning on taking photos of that area anyway 😀

Thanks for the info – DME is the most likely seeing as I can identify pretty much every other it of kit up there whilst banging my head around the confines of the equipment bay (no-one ever forgets working on Hunters thanks to the cramped / inadequate access…… :diablo: )
Just got to figure out where any other connections to it may be hidden – had a good feel around it as best as I could but not easy to find anything…

My mistake was merging the Cockpits oh no not again thread into this. I have moved that whole mess back out and it should be much better now. Any problems please pm me

Thanks for untangling it all again Peter… far easier to read now at least…

Wow… saw the film myself and now having seen the work that went on behind the scenes I’m even more impressed…..

What a pity some of this model making is for destructive purposes – there’s such a lot of skill there.

And yes I know, far better for a model to “bite it” than any real hardware, in any film.

What a weird thread to drag some memories up with….. 😀

I have fond memories of that blasted PRC too…..

Mind you, found it just the stuff to use when it came to race prepping a car of mine….. amazing where I found uses for it, considering it was supplied courtesy of the RAF…. 😮

I think combining the threads has now made it totally confusing to read – sorry, but I’m trying to make sense of the entire lot and it doesn’t anymore? There’s blame being thrown about regarding posts that don’t seem to be there?

I won’t shed a tear – the whole concept did nothing for any of the preservation movements – including ours…. 😡

Ah yes……. the well known pre-rehearsed “Tower I’ve hit a bl**dy Landrover whilst attempting a rather bad landing on the grass” emergency drill….. :diablo:

Gawd that was one hard landing – broke it’s back it did…. :diablo:

Just wanted to applaude the BBC for their coverage on News 24 today… From early on, they were doing their bit to get maximum publicity for the cause.. Only a minor glitch with the serial number (soon editted), and no sensationalism – even the early landing back at Brunty was reported factually…

Would seem to be a microswitch issue – shouldn’t be too much of a problem to sort – those were always tempremental components to deal with… 😮

Well done to TVOC for what’s been acheived over the past three days – and hats off to the RAF for their involvement too…..:D 😀 😀

Don’t you just love it when you think you’ve seen it all – then along comes something as stunning as this to blow you away…. 😀

What an amazing engineered model – lovely to watch that clip, but such a crying shame it currently appears to be static on a revolving diorama display setting these days…. If only it could be operated as built…

Well done to Bernard the builder of this amazing project…. 🙂

Looks like Nigel Lamb on the right in the pic?

I have to agree, the only reason why a whole panel is removed is for re-sale or self gain, either way there is someone who walks in the circles of aircraft preservation who has stolen these panels.
Whoever did it was successfull to a point, like I previously mentioned there was a bolt hammered into the skin to try and prize off one panel so either they were in a rush or just amateurs.
Lets just hope she dosn’t end up in the same state as the A1 Lightning before something is done.
    John.

Wholeheartedly agree with you John. What I also find intriuging is that the removed panels are on the nose section – IE: handy for a nose section restoration project. Gawd I hope there’s not one being worked on at present that was short of these panels (I’ve seen where some nose sections have been supported on trailers etc – and these panels would seem to be from the very same areas that ‘may’ be damaged etc etc… 😡 😡

Regarding the failure to get this Hunter rehomed – I think it’s a damm shame that the receivers / administrators seem to have no sympathy for anyone remotely interested in preserving this relic. I can’t understand how it’s got to be tied in with any sale of the site – who the hell is going to want to buy it in it’s current state unless they too are aviation related and woiuld be prepared to secure it’s future?

I’m joining the band of distinctly unhappy watchers on this sad sad sight indeed….. 🙁

Apologies for not knowing what radio is what….. 😮
I’m an airframe guy – never knew what all those twiddly knobs and cats whisker radios did until I started delving into the cockpit of XF382 :diablo:

Jersey was always a good one for “variable” crowdline…….

Have been on the beach at low tide to see some aircraft come a bit close overhead, and then been up on the roadside to see a Harrier display along the water’s edge at high tide, much to the obvious delight of Ken Ellis who carried on commentating whilst knowing that the seafront crowds were going to get dowsed in water by the Harrier as it bowed before them…. 😀 😀
