Just a question – I thought all AB 737s were wingleted – from any photos I’ve seen of D-ABAB, it doesn’t seem to be – anyone know if only the newer ones are so fitted and, if so, are the older examples being retrofitted?
I know there was a stand space problem at BHD due to the wingspans which would mean only non-wingleted 737s can be accomodated!
I believe the AB delays are down to the fact that the F100 operates a sector into STN from Dusseldorf, I think and then positions on to BHD – the delay really stems from a knock on from delayed departure from Dusseldorf.
737s are being used to/from BHD from today and, in fact, 800s are shown on Sat & Sun – hopefully, this will alleviate the delay problems.
Haven’t flown on a Q400 yet but have travelled on a J41 a couple of times – found it even noisier than the ATP – enough said!!
On the subject of Flybe, seems they aren’t the only airline having problems with the Q400, judging by this report

Its not RAF its Army and yes it is closing.
But not until 2008, I think.
One wonders how serious this venture is when the date of the press release is 11 May 2005!
LOL The A/c type favoured by elgan mark dan and my mutal friend i believe.
BFS will be gone by end of August im sure, unless they price WAY below BNW to counteract £10-25 extra to get to City Centre from BFS.
And not forgetting EMX who are normally considerably cheaper than BNW!
Just checked AB’s website again – shows 737-700 for Monday and back to F100 for Tuesday – a bit confusing – reckon we’ll just have to wait and see what shows up!
Noticed that too, hopefully not a misprint – incidentally, some flights were operated this week by WDL 146-300 D-AWBA – maybe due to a tech prob with the F100?
I actually queried this with Pratt & Whitney some time ago as it is only the PW100 series engines that this seems to occur – I was told that the procedure was followed to allow gear oil to drain back into the gearbox from the prop spinner before shut down.
Has anyone noticed that ATRs have an engine brake (on the port side, I think) – I have seen this happen where the engine appears to be at a slow idle and the prop suddenly stops. I’m not sure why this happens although I think the APU on ATRs is located in the port engine nacelle which may have something to do with it.
Hope this helps.
Excellent report, Andrew – see our “friend” EW’s back on forum again with his usual helpful interjections! The GE at BHD was N170SW – been there before I think!
Nice shots, Andrew, excellent considering the atrocious conditions – on the subject of AB, looks as if all BHD flights will be F100 operated for the foreseeable future – apparently there is a problem with stand space – the wingleted 737s span is too big even for angled stands 4 & 5!
Maybe its time for the airports to start fighting back after years of bullying by Ryanair – perhaps the time has come for MOL to realise that he needs the airports as much as they need him!
Now announced on their website.
Don’t you think this
‘My airport is better than your airport’
stuff a little childish?
Moggy
That may be but EW initiated it!
