Sad news. The guys will be missed at Cumbernauld.

I can’t give you the answer, but the place to look is LASORS. This can be downloaded from the CAA website, and is the bible for flight crew licencing in the UK. The 2006 version has just been published, but watch it’s about 11.8Mb so best for broadband downloads.
Once you have made no sense of that, then pop into a flying club and chat with the CFI.

maintenance delays this time!
Fledgling airline flight delayed
AlphaOne’s first flight was grounded
The first flight of a new airline, founded by a teenager, was grounded on Wednesday at the Isle of Man.
AlphaOne airways had to scrap its first flight from the Isle of Man to Edinburgh at 0815 GMT due to maintenance delays. However a statement from the airline said a flight planned for 1815 GMT would go ahead.
The airline founded by Martin Halstead, 19, plans to expand its services in the New Year.
An airline spokeswoman said passengers booked on the cancelled flight have been offered a full refund and the opportunity to fly on the later flight.
Alpha One is operating its first route with a smaller aircraft during December, introducing the 18-seat Jetstream 31 from the New Year.
Call centre
Delays in pilot training and administration last month mean that scheduled flights could not start until December.
While problems with its website meant flights had to be booked via a call centre.
Mr Halstead, 19, from Oxfordshire, had planned to operate between Oxford and Cambridge, but then scrapped the route.
Educated at Abingdon School in Oxfordshire, Mr Halstead gave up his A-levels in 2003 to pursue a pilot’s career.
Additional services are planned between the Isle of Man, Southampton and Cardiff International.
Here is a fact sheet on the sale of goods act:
http://www.dti.gov.uk/ccp/topics1/facts/salegoodsact.htm
In it:
It is the seller, not the manufacturer, who is responsible if goods do not conform to contract
i.e. if its broke, the shop should fix it
Artistoli
You give your location as London, hence the UK sale of goods act comes into force. Under that act your first point of contact should be the shop who sold you the camera, and not the manufacturer/importer. It is then up to the shop to organise any repair or replacement.
Have you tried that route?
Just try to beg steal or borrow some flying time as often as you can. Even sitting in the right hand seat when someone else flies will help as you can keep the mental picture of the circuit in your head.
I can vouch for that.
Parked up the Traumahawk after an hours worth of circuits on Saturday. As Graham, my instructor, and I walked back to the clubroom, we looked in the hangar to see the 172 with its droopy eyes sitting there begging to stretch its wings. We looked at each other, smiled, then I pulled her out while Graham ran up to book out. Result was an extra 20 minutes, and I got CI in my logbook at last. 🙂 (and Graham paid a share! 😮 )
very sad news, condolences to his family

you have my sympathy about the break-in, and I surely empathise with your sentiments. However the odds are that no-one will be caught for it.
I was burgled twice last year, the guy came back 4 months later to get the stuff the insurance company replaced. The worst bit was the disruption trying to get things sorted out with the police and insurance, and I have been nervous about leaving the house for any length of time. (the second break-in happened about 15 minutes after I had gone out).
All you can do is make sure your house is secure, and lock all windows and doors at night.
best wishes

The minimum for the NPPL is 32 hours, and for the jar/fcl PPL 45 hours. I would be surprised if the NPPL is completed under 45 hours since they both follow the same exercises.
Re-iterating Moggy’s advice, never pay up front, always as you go. If you have a lump of money, put it in the bank and it earns you interest.

a couple of years ago the Museum of Flight at East Fortune had an exhibition on the 1910 Lanark meeting. Seem to remember it was Grant Newman did the research. Try contacting them for more info.
In fact RadarArchive, on this board, now works there maybe he can help.
