well I never. A Wimpy with drop tanks. you would never of thought it would of sank with those on !!!! 🙂
yes yes yes, I got me coat.
Again I would think you will find that all avenues have been well and truely walked to come to this point in deciding the framed full lift is the best option.
Has it started yet !!!!!
this is very exciting. please lets not have any doom and gloom, lets send out them positive waves man.,
good luck to all the crew on this project and get squeezing those Lemons.
TA out but watching
in for a repaint?
is it just a SHELL ?
Trolly Aux -none of it is about being negative . Its about people getting a grip on reality ! It appears that the aircraft is ‘unknown’ -therefore we don’t really know the circumstances of how it got there. Therefore we cannot determine the level of damage or whether the crew got out or not.
So showing pictures on websites of Dornier’s whilst inspirational – doesn’t show what the RAFM are about to recover. It also does’t explain how they really mean to restore it -if they have budgeted for it or for that matter the timescale. So in essence whilst an important aircraft – I think it would be far more appropriate in Germany if recovered and I believe at present that they would be able to carry out a full restoration quicker than it could be done in the U.K .
Well, IF this is not the A/C they say it is and the crew are aboard would it not be better for the crew to have a decent burial with all the honours they deserve?.
Also that 50KG is safe enough to remove from its resting point for the past 70 odd years to sa safe detonation point.
Get it up ! get it up!!!!
Also citric acid dilute solution will not desolve the aluminium
Well I’ll be Clucked !
Plexiglass with Armoured front screens I would think, maybe the sliding windows also a glass but mossi boys along soon !
MR B, you are being very negative again.
I feel that maybe you should give us your step by step of how you would go about this, just 1 to 10 at the moment and at least we can then all say “HE TOLD YOU SO” wag finger !
they may be able to draft you in as the raising is iminent
Citric acid is a component of some aircraft cleaning sprays. Its very efficient and safe to the environment. However I certainly wouldn’t want to immerse an aircraft in it unless I wanted to make a big battery and quickly watch an aircraft disappear!
and that is why the mix is very important as I think has been said in their report.
As Tangmere says: they have it all in hand and will be doing what needs to be done. but as usual the wagging fingers are out on this one again.
Take a magadon and relax man, eat cheese n drink wine
It looks like a fillet/faring part, but what I cannot help sorry.
The professionals will be along very soon
I think you are correct.
to use the Citric acid ! It is soluble and ideally used in warm tempered water.
Tangmere,
Lets hope some personal effect is found to one of the crew members, I guess that would tie it down to one A/C?
David.
The mary Rose was on display during the process of keeping it wet etc, lets hope they can do a similar thing here. The Hampden is here on dry land, the Dornier on the other hand is going to deteriorate far more rapid than the Hampden.
I am sure you understand that if this A/C stays where it is it will become a ‘0’. Unlike the Spifires in crates, this has been found so lets applaud them and be positive that this may lead to more and more finds
I thought they had virtually confirmed this aircrafts I/D ? one of a possible 3 but the other two went in head first so smashed?
I do think your right Andy, you can see the fin too
