And it’s not as if the earnings from this auction are going to anywhere charitable.
    Just personal gain.

NO, I don’t approve of it either.
    🙁

    Hey Stormbird.

    A point of contention

    No.10 isn’t actually a P-41. THis had inboard-retracting undercart.
The photo shows the P-35 backward exposed style retracts.
I stand by my AT-12 answer.
    🙂

    Cheers

There was a story of the last flight out of Vietnam during the end of the war with a 727 taking off with 300 passengers incl some stowaways.
It struggled into the air but did make it. Apparently AFAIK it was the Boeing president or some high-ranking Boeing person at the controls.

I recall seeing a pic of the 727 flying with the main gear down and a body hanging from the well.

If you made the doors out of carbon-fibre (actually not THAT expensive as it’s a flat sheet) or fibreglass I would have thought that the weight would be insignificant.
I personally would go for it !!

    Good stuff.
Don’t be put off by what other people say, you just build it how you want.
It will be after all your aircraft !!

    Interesting story, thanks Oscar Duck.

I remember in the movie the CAG complaing to the captain about burning up the hours of the 3350’s in the Skyraiders running at full power.

Was that an issue with the Trackers?

How far are you with the Isaacs Spit planning?

I’m presently doing a load of research for the Pietenpol, and am about to purchase the plans.
I’m going to paint it in pre-war USAAC colours (blue fuselage, yellow wing with red stripe rudder etc).
I also learnt this weekend that I can register it as a Microlight here in NZ due to the wing-loading & power rating being low.
Saves heaps of paper work and beauracracy with building.

I reckon half of the fun with starting a project is getting ideas for it and visualising the finished product.

    Excellent movie !!!

Good footage of Spads as well.

Interesting scene where they’re manouvering the carrier into a Japanese port and running up the tied down Skyraider’s on each side to push the carrier in.
Was this really done in real life?

Ah okay, they had the longer nose.
I prefer the short nose radial ones for looks.
