Found this excellent pic of XR219….
Look at this size difference. Even makes the Lightning look
old-fashioned…dare I say it… 😉
…and the sad end……..
happier times….
(from same website)
here’s a pic to make you weep…. 🙁

Looks like a Mustang that’s been put through the ringer and stretched on the washing line…. 😀
Great pics and the land of the long white cloud looks great 🙂 , I must try and get there one day again, My dec father came from N.Z, And Worked for the Union steam ship company of N.Z, I was taken there for a holiday when I was 3 years old, My only Memories are of a tin man like water fountain, And the ferry trip from Wellington to Christchurch, I was very young but can remember my older sisters looking out the port hole as we passed the wreck of some ship that sank in a storm with loss of life, Cheers for now, Tally Ho! Phil 😎
That “wreck of some ship” would have been the Wahine that went down in April 1968 with the loss of 51 lives. It was and still is NZ’s worst maritime disaster.

Slight problem, none flying.
Perhaps we should limit this to currently airworthy warbirds, as Steve Young’s already suggested.
Otherwise, I’d like to change my choice to a Me323 Gigant!!! 😀
I’d go for something even larger and be a Jimmy Stewart for a bit….
The B-36 Peacemaker….have to be the later ones with the 6 turnin’ and 4 burnin’….. 🙂
I reckon it looks like a cross between a late model Spit and a P-51.
(Imagine what a Griffon powered P-51 would have been like (Reno racers excluded))
That MB-5 looks fast even parked up.
I wonder, had it been successful whether it would have incorporated their ejection seats……..

Glad you agree, SB
I personally feel the early P-40’s had a sleek uncluttered line to them which is not really apparent in the later models.

Nice pics of great aircraft in my homeland !!!
Well done !!!!!
Love the bare metal Tomahawk pic.
My favourite of that lot !! 🙂

When’s that rear gunner in the Junkers going to stop protecting all the parked aircraft and come in for a cuppa… 😀

I would like a 1/48th B-36 Peacemaker….I know the 1/72nd one exists (and it’s huge !!)
However you’d need a seperate room, or put reinforcing beams in your room if you were to hang it… 😀 😮

Thanks Dave,
Great sounds on it for sure !!
Interesting site
