oh yes thats the one, Dave !!

I love the way they used to do the Pacific Theatre flypast’s with the F4U and Avenger with the “Zero” making attacks.

The Avenger seemed surprisingly agile for an aircraft of it’s size and weight.

BTW Thanks for those superb TBM Paintshop pics.
Brings back memories of visitign Wigram.

    They were great !!:) 🙂 🙂

    Chris

PS I once did 230 km/h on my motorcycle down the runway at Wigram. Quite an experience !!

Pity no Avenger at Wanaka. Always looked good in a formation with the F4U.

Week and a half to go til WOW 2004.
    Camera is ready and primed:D

Since I got so much flak for loving a particular aluminium overcast bomber:D I have to say that my all-time favourite fighter has to be the Spitfire XIX…high-back five-bladed Griffon powered Spitfire.
Nothing evokes power more than that I reckon..
The huge prop with the long nose,…mmm…does it for me, esp with the Blue R/R colour scheme !!

    Anyway, enjoy this pic…I love it…:) 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂

I prefer the D models with the 4 turbojets but that’s a nice pic thanks.

Now, you can’t say it’s not a beautiful aircraft !!!

    Damn straight a bomber !!!

Have you ever seen “Strategic Air Command” ?

The startup and take-off scene of the B-36 at the start is legendary.

Even the Monogram 1/72 plastic kitset model is huge !!

Nah, it’s truly awesome, dunt care whatcha think…:D

    Cheers

Anyway, getting back to the subject of this thread…….

My all time favourite has to be the “six turnin’ an’ four burnin'” machine built by Convair 😀

Now, guess what sort of aircraft that is….
I’ll give you a clue….it’s very big and used to shake the houses as it flew over, even at 35,000ft…

    Cheers

    Thanks Melvyn.

Reinforces what I should do. Far more sensible.

Well, I’m going to order the plans now from Pietenpol.

Think I’ve done enough research, and everyone’s help and opinions have been well received and I’m grateful.

    Thanks

I think I prefer the original Cub-type design.
Looks more inline with the design of the aircraft.

I see on some of the Pietenpol websites there are a lot of half-finished fuselages/kits where builders have either lost interest or money and are selling off (in some cases very cheaply !!) what they’ve already built.

I considered going down this road also.

Any opinions out there on this ?

Is it viable or more of buyer beware ?

Getting back to cowl thing, guess the slim cowl is for an Auster type look perhaps ?

    Wow !!!

    What can I say ?

    Thanks for the beautiful pictures BlueRobin 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀

When I see these ones already built (in particular G-BUCO), gives me inspiration to do it !!

    Cheers
