I frequently pass by that end of EMA on my way to Loughborough from Long Eaton, and have often wondered about this aircraft.
A sad end for her. Any further photos, Tony?
I’m scheduled to pass there later today – I expect she has gone now though? 🙁
Absolutely stunning work, Alex. :eek::eek:
I shall be using this thread as a reference for when I build my next Whitley; the ageing 1:72 Frog offering.
A question – Are you a Watchmaker by trade?
The detailing of those FUNCTIONING (!!) seats, etc. are truly amazing. Many of the other smaller details look functional as well; all add to the effect that you could climb aboard and fly her.
Although judging by the state of the Elsan, she has just returned fron a pretty “hairy” trip! :D:diablo:
Am I the only one to have read that poem of a mothers grief at losing her young son without a tear in their eye.
No.
IIRC, an in situ photograph of the tail section appeared on the cover of David J Smith’s High Ground Wrecks & Relics .
Now, where did I put my copy?!
Some quality telly for a change… 😎
Just PVR-ed the first episode to watch at my leisure.
…Part III (Somerset Heinkel dig, Yorkshire underground bunkers, Uxbridge Bunker & Hull blitz), provisionally listed for the same time on 29 December.
HappyBirthdayToMe, HappyBirthdayToMe… :D:D

I agree with Moggy & kev35.
As has already been stated, too many people take the freedom that they have today for granted – We must never be allowed to forget that freedom is not free.

I certainly did spare a few thoughts for Flt Sgt Williams.
At 1pm (approximately the time of the combat over Gravesend), I stopped my vehicle, and shut down the engine for two minutes.
Thanks Moggy.

Blue skies, Sir.
Thank you for your service.
There are several I quite like:
Jupiter II (Lost in Space).
Fireball XL5.
The Akira Class starship from Star Trek.
However, my favourite of all has to be Spindrift from Land of the Giants.
About 5 years ago, I built a model of this ship from foam and GRP.
A custom build for a friend, she is 4 ft. long, and has interior lighting.
I’ll see if I can find the pics…
