A stupid story ineptly reported, but which has given valuable publicity to a fine pilot/owner.
The first V-bomber I had close contact with on a CCF camp at Wittering in 1956/7?, I think it was. And my first Chippie AEF was there as well!
Finished Agent Zigzag by Ben MacIntyre and half way though A Passion for Living by Alexander Stobbs.
Good news to hear she is in the air for the first time this year. I must check the website for her commitments this summer – apart from Dx ones, of course!:)
I can see where this is going so I’ll depart now, particularly as I have been shocked by a particular response from one member.

er,….just before midnight, dark, 4 onto 2, are you going to stand around trying to work out if they’re armed?
In the wrong place at the wrong time!
Shame they didn’t get the other three.
Baz
I wouldn’t know, Baz – I have never been in that situation or at least what we know of the situation. Whatever the facts come to be we are left with the phrase “use of reasonable force”.
Do you use a knife requiring close physical contact or do you use something with which to stun the intruder? I am not sure that my first choice would be to stab, if that is what happened.
It is all futile speculation until we know what happened.

If the intruder who was killed did not have a weapon then the people who killed him can hardly be said to have used “reasonable force”. As I said until the facts are clear we are hardly able to pronounce judgement. Yes, of course he was committing an offence, but were the occupants justified in killing him?

There we are – quite different personal experiences, so CD will just have to take pot luck!!:)
