Being open minded is not assuming that a UFO is anything extra-terrestrial. I am completely open-minded having no opinion either way but happy to accept proof of positive identification when it happens. Until then a UFO is by its definition, a UFO.

By definition an unidentified flying object is just that. Unidentified. That means we do not know what it is – perhaps they are genetically enlarged dust-mites – and it will be scientists of the entirely unblinkered variety who will help us to identify them. As to evidence; if there is any evidence it will be analysed in the normal way.
