Thanks for posting! We rarely get a first-hand account of an incident. I can imagine that the events must have stayed with you so vividly.

Interested to hear your views on it, Linc, when you watch a film you like. I have heard mixed opinions and have not yet invested in the hardware so stumped up the extra for the DVDs

Particularly if you were unfortunate enough to witness his few “solo” performances. For a devotee like me it was deeply saddening.:(

Dead right, Linc, but it was your comment on my post which resulted in the last few posts.;);)

And just to clarify the point I do NOT regard Jason as anything other than a fairly good actor like a few thousand other members of his profession. For my money Ronnie Barker was a fine character actor.

Skymonster – brief comments on your interesting points:

    1. No one HAS to work for Ryanair and if no one did your wish would be granted.

    2. That is a matter of opinion, not shared by everyone, but endorsed by a large number, in all probability.

    3. Climate change and the environment are PERCEIVED to be a problem but not by a growing number of knowledgable people. And unless there are more convenient methods of reaching the destinations the demand will remain.

    4. That is your opnion and you may be right, but I suspect that there are a number of other reasons for the change in behaviour, both in the air and on the ground.

    5. A sweeping statement for which cannot be substantiated because it is hypothetical.

I have no axe to grind because I no longer fly, having spent half my life doing so. I do, however, sense a heaving resentment at this man and his highly successful business.

Aren’t these threads pointless? It’s all subjective anyway. What’s ‘best’ for one is going to be absolute anathema to someone else, that’s already been proven in the best male comedian thread. Perhaps you could start a best bicycle, best helmet cam or best mobility scooter thread?

    Regards,

    kev35

Although I have participated in some of these threads I am really in sympathy with your view, Kev.

I feel the same way about awards, be they for films, theatre, books or indeed anything. It seems to me invidious to compare one individual’s work against another’s. And the best or the worst is meaningless other than to the proposer himself.

As far as best “objects” are concerned that is slightly different because there is a series of objective performance criteria by which these can be judged. Although I am not suggesting that someone starts a new thread!!

Smug, greasy and weasely….mmmm, not a popular man on this forum, our Ricky, is he….and not just disliked, seemingly loathed. I thoroughly enjoyed The Office and Extras but dislike his stand-up and monologues.

Might it be that as there is less “live” aviation going on, some posters get stuck into contentious stuff, which they would otherwise not waste much time on……anyway let’s hope normal service is resumed and the forum returns to its genial, friendly self.:)
