Slightly off topic, with apologies, will you and the Spit be at The Hop Farm again this Sumnmer?:)
Fair enough Cloud 9, I see your point, but shame in this context bears an element of pity that his plans will not be realised and I cannot share in that feeling. My feelings are of relief that he didn’t kill or ingure anyone and that a chance to reflect on his wanton stupidity might make him him a maturer individual.

The whole thing has become ridiculous. As expressed in the first post “as a parent I’d be asking for his head”
And this encapsulates the problem. Before we were overtaken by ‘elf an’ Safety adults and children took risks. Parents accepted it and accidents happened. No one sued anyone and we all got on with our lives.
We now live in a world of risk assessment and risk aversion, which constrains free activity and risk taking. Whilst there is the threat that the individual responsible for an activity is held to legal account for any accident that befalls his charges, then nothing will change.

Not true all primary school kids learn about WWII as part of the curriculum including the battle of Britain. I recently entertained a group from a local school and fired up the Spitty. They loved it and sent me a pic from every kid in the class. I found them all very attentive while i gave them a 20 minute talk and asked allot of intelligent questions.
Anyway this is about a show not school education!! it amazes me how many of these threads end up as an argumemt about an unrelated subject ???
Name me a thread which doesn’t drift now and then………….;)
Look how much pleasure the replica Vimy gave last year…………….:)
I cannot see why it is a shame. He deserved it, as you said. He has paid the price for his utterly irresponsible stupidity and I hope it is a lesson for others, although I doubt it.

I think I would agree. It is a very arcane argument and I’m not sure how much it matters. The fact that we can see on the ground and in some cases in the air, historic aircraft, gives me all the plesasure that I look for. But I can see many purists taking a contrary view.
