    Some information here.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corpo_Aereo_Italiano

It was not significant enough for the film makers to have included it in the story, which was not a documentary but a fictional story based with a good degree of accuracy on the events of 1940.

That’s a fair response to my statement. We never hear a voice of dissent to the £3 million it costs all of us every year out of our taxes to keep the BoB Memorial Flight in the air. After all, apart from the Lanc, of which there is one other flying example, there are other Hurricanes, Dakotas and many Spits flying around the world. In this respect the Vulcan is unique. I am not for a minute suggesting the BBMF should be disbanded, but only trying to put a different perspective on it.

I too have missed her due to weather once and going tech twice. That is the nature of old aircraft. I don’t think I have attended a single air display where every aircraft scheduled actually flew.

I will NOT, rpt NOT, enjoy 558’s demise. It will simply become a ground airframe – somewhere. It has been too costly to retain as a flying airframe – whatever. Those who wanted it to remain a flying airframe have not contributed enough of their hard earned money to keep it thus. So be it. We live in a so-called democratical society. The Majority have their way. The Minority (which includes 558 supporters at both national, and local, level have to do as they are told). People being told to do what they are told to do is not popular these days. Or do we have to go into detail for those who think otherwise?

Robert Pleming, Chief Executive, Vulcan to the Sky Trust.

    From the Doctor:

I have just come off the ‘phone to our Chairman of Trustees, and I was able to confirm that yesterday, the Trust was in receipt of over £57,000 in donations. I am delighted to let you know that the Board of Trustees now believes that the Appeal has sufficient momentum to raise the remaining £75,000 before the end of the month.

As the result, he has agreement of the Board of Trustees that the Trust has sufficient liquidity to continue to trade, and accordingly the notices to our employees have been rescinded.

This is obviously really good news, and is very much down to you, our core supporters, and the desires of the wider public, who have dug deep into their pockets to move us forward once again. We have received tremendous support from thousands of people, and from literally all four corners of the world! On behalf of XH558, thank you so very much!

If they have I have not seen them – this is a marvellous series – RAF, Luftwaffe, Russian material and Cold War jets – good narration and interviews. Many thanks for posting the link.

And another classic from the Squadron Leader. Growing up near the airport during the 50s was one of the things which resulted in my passion for aviation.
