Linc – I checked. 1991, so not too far out and 3 years before you retired.

Always buy any OTC drug in its BP format. Aspirin, paracetemol, codeine etc – there is never any need to buy a branded version.

ARVs have not been with us for that long – the mid nineties, I believe. I would guess that the reason police officers are opposed to carrying a weapon is that, in the event of the need to use it, the responsibility for its use rests with the officer concerned and he would have to answer personally to any charge in a court of law.

I believe that the exceptions in the UK are that officers in the PFNI ( ex- RUC) do carry weapons as do police officers at airports.

Well, he said the video sucks but it certainly told the story with bags of atmosphere. But what a tragic end for the pilot “Skip” to have died in the Cessna crash just a couple of weeks later.:(

Next time I am looking around Hawg Wild I will remember that flight.

Good thread!! I think of all of them I would have anticipated the B52 the most – simply because of the aircraft size versus the runway length. But many others would have been fun. I do remember the Vulcan arriving on the short runway at Catterick, way back, when it ended up on the fire dump.

In H G Wells’ wonderful The Time Machine his Time Traveller remained the same age, so it is clearly possible!! By your rationale you could not go back earlier than the day you were born because you…..er…..wouldn’t have been born.;) Fortunately for us science fiction enables us to overcome these petty scientific irritations.:D

In fact Wells’ book, which I first read many decades ago and have subsequently re-read dozens of times, is the best time travel story of all, for me.

This is one of the most satisfying and enjoyable threads here. I cannot contribute much other than to enjoy the various posts and memories. For you, Tim, I cannot begin to imagine the joy you must have experienced after all those years – although I know you spent a fair few hours in the Hurricane. Even so……:)
