I read about the Bournemouth weather and felt for everyone there.:(

And, Blue2 – yes, indeed, standing on one V-bomber, watching another in 2010 – wish I’d been there.:D

Good for you, EGPH.:) Do you mind me asking where and how you were approached?

It is not the admission under review, in this case it is Government funding of it, which is under review, if the report is correct. It is not included in the short list of bodies to be privatised, either.

That is the inference I drew from his comments, so perhaps a trifle misleading – although unintentionally I am sure.

There also seem to be some contradictory views on the amount of fuel the 109E had for combat before having to return to France.

What you say is true but I think it because so many of us have donated over the years to a cause which seems to have been badly managed and which yet again seem likely to die unless some generous donor with pots of money to throw at it comes along.

I would LOVE to have seen it this year but it flew only at venues I could not get to or where it might have flown but for the delays in the start to its season. Last year it went tech on the two occasions I expected to see it. So, lucky old you, I would say……:)

These are terrific – I sometimes convert my own meagre fare into sepia or just mono in Picasa for that extra atmosphere! I’m deeply envious of your run of the airfield early every morning…………….:)

Just finished Bletchley Park and am re-reading First Light after many years before plunging into my next Henning Mankell Wallender story.

I too have thoroughly enjoyed the season – it has done it as much justice as it deserved. And picking up an earlier point the last government was populated with and lead by shallow “noo politicians” desperate to make the UK a noo country with a noo future. They made the fatal mistake of forgetting that without a past there is no future.

There is a view that Hitler was never more than half-hearted about Sealion. He never wanted to invade and believed that he could do business with Churchill and that the British would sue for peace. As with many other aspects of the conflict he misread Churchill and by the time he realised his overtures had been rejected it was too late. Too late in the year and too late for the shattered Luftwaffe and the diminished Navy.

That is, of course terrible.:( The problem is that the perception is often alien to the reality and for right or wrong I fear many of us are more wary than the likes of BB and Tornado.
