As long as comedians are funny I don’t mind what they say – nor should anyone be offended. Just switch ’em off.

The problem is that few “comedians” are that funny. Connolly used to really make me laugh but, although I have not seen his latest material, I saw him 2 or 3 years ago and thought he had gone off the boil.

Wait for Chris Morris’ new feature film “Four LIons” if you are looking for offensive comedy. Muslims will love it!:rolleyes:

It would be lovely were it possible but planning for that timeframe can’t be done. five to ten years is about all you can sensibly do. The world of politics, international relations and technology mean that planning anything for that timeframe would not be in your best interest. Who in 1970s could have seen the end of the cold war, Gulf War, the chaos of the adriatic, September 11th, Afghan and iraq? There is no way that the governments of Heath, Callaghan, wilson and Thatcher could have made strategic spending plans for all of that- They didn’t even see the Falklands coming!! I’m afraid you’re stuck with 5-10 years at best.

Fair point, so do we know what the foreign policy objectives are for, let’s say the next 10 years, from either party? My reading of previous reviews is that firstly they are service competitive, which is counter productive, and cost driven, which always results in scraping the barrel for resources when we need them.

We do not anticipate events. We have to decide, politically and diplomatically what we want our military capability for. And I thought we all paid vast sums of our money to various advisors and ngos to analyse, assess and advise the government on every aspect of global development. Either their advice is being ignored, in which case we do not need them, or they are not providing any advice. Same conclusion.

There is an entirely unsubstantiated link between the most passionate MMGW adherents and equally passionate consumers of organic food, generally being lumped together as “tree-huggers”. That might be the connection our friend was alluding to.;)

For me its just a lot of academics and shrewd business types making mountains of cash out of peoples gulability, from weather predictors to C02 emissions its all so much double talk,and cliche ridden tosh , ditto the”organic” brigade, if its better for you and no additives are used in its production ,how come its twice the price of traditional fresh produce? come on people wake up and smell the coffee(organic of course)
