Appalled – but free speech, free society, tolerance etc, etc. If only it wasn’t all so one sided.
Happy memories of burning up several thousand kilometres every year in these and its predecessor the DC9, during SAS’s halcyon days.
What made me swear today …
Christmas is all over … time to get back into university work.
Is it really that bad? I’m back to work as well as many of us, I imagine, but pleasant though time with the family is, work is challenging and often enjoyable so never to be cursed.:)

Do you know what I think part of the problem is? Pressure, pure and simple. With all due respect to Dean, Lance is almost single-handedly moderating this forum. And that is not fair on him nor is it right. Dean steps in when he can. Moggy is busy elsewhere. What of the two other Moderators? Andrewm I’ve not seen here for ages and Frank only pops up when forced, like now.
Lance can be cutting, he’s done it with me but whenever I’ve crossed the line he’s always taken the trouble to PM me to inform me exactly what I’ve done and why it needs moderating. That’s a rare quality.
As for the webmaster, well it’s just a title. We have no idea who they are. Let’s face it, it could be the cleaners at Key Towers taking it in turns to do the job. We need a recognisable entity with whom to air grievances.
As for commercial, I too agree that splitting it was an absolute disaster. Discussion threads often led to the introduction of interesting photo’s. Photo threads often led to interesting discussion on the minutiae of airline operation or airliner production. Splitting them in this way was a massively retrograde step to the detriment of the commercial forum.
I would urge Lance to reconsider.
The other point is the issue over ‘democracy.’ No, it is not a democracy. Key pay for the provision and running of this site and for that we can have nothing but gratitude. What needs to happen is for Key to be a little more open and communicative with their membership. Ren’s election idea worked well a few years ago, I remember it well. Whether it would work today I don’t know. What is clear is that something isn’t right here when a Moderator feels compelled to leave as does a respected forum member.

For me, at least, that is interesting and enlightening but raises a question, which I hope is not naive.
Moderation is required because posters step outside the Rules of Conduct, one way or another. Couldn’t we all be a bit more careful about what we write and so help to reduce the workload you allude to? After all many here are very old hands and must be very aware of what is kosher and what is not.
As one of the newer boys on the block I have been reading this thread with someting approaching amazement at the comments exchanged. And I don’t think I have really understood what the fuss is all about. Is it worth enlightenment?
The Good Shepherd, directed by De Niro, and with a marvellous underplayed performance by Matt Damon as CIA agent Edward Wilson. All the performances were good and it was excellently directed.

I thought the sortie counted whatever the outcome. So that if you had to turn back with a technical problems after 30 mins you had still officially completed a sortie.
