Do you seriously think that the UK alone can afford to spend $16,250 BILLION (yes, billion dollars) on defence when in 2009 the total world spend on defence was less than $1500 billion?

How will this be paid for? :confused: Almost every other measure you have suggested will reduce government income.

Hearing that, inevitably, the bananas in Copenhagen will magic a fudge out of the boronference so that we all shell out yet more of our hard-earned cash to be poured down the drain.

I wouldn’t be too upset to see all the so called “low-fare” airlines gone, not just Ryanair – although Ryanair are by far the worst of the bunch. If nothing else, it’d do wonders for aviation’s position versus global warming/climate change for there to be such a reduction in air travel

Anyway, the news this morning appears to be that Boeing have refused to bow to Ryanair’s pressure with respect to acquiring 200 more 737s, so with any luck maybe we’ll see the Harp’s growth stunted soon

Why are you so opposed to “low-fare” airlines apart from the global warming/climate change element, which is a quite separate debate and may or may not be relevant. Do you object to people being able to enjoy the benefits and adventure of travel provided by low cost airlines which they would otherwise not enjoy?

New government, new ideas, cut taxes to encourage individuals and businesses, give back people responsibility for their lives, culture change, social change…..

Simplistic, obvious and utterly unattainable solutions in the short term We are in a very, very big hole and it will be years before we dig ourselves out of it.:mad:(

You obviously know all about their management. I worked there for a period, did we meet ?

What did I write that would lead you to that conclusion? I don’t think I have made a single specific comment about the management. I HAVE commented on bad management in general and ascribed the failure of the airline to the likelihood of bad management.

It would be nice to think that this idiotic decision will be reversed if Copenhagen implodes and Brown has no need to spend his mysteriously discovered 1.5 billion by throwing it down the throats of African CO2 burners and could divert it to where it is really needed – supporting our servicemen and providing them with the equipment they need to do the job asked of them.

There’s obviously an opening in the market for Cat Pants.

Now, that’s the best suggestion so far.
