I remain unpersuaded!:)
All her fans will be delighted to know that she is now just £23,000 short of the target with two shows at Sunderland to come this weekend. I think it is going to be very close, so let’s hope it’s close enough!!:)
Gosh that is a long time ago and presumably for all practical purposes it would have to be re-certified before taking to the air again. So the UK and Canada share the only airworthy Strinbags and the only airworthy Lancs.:)
Empires of the Clouds, as I posted elsewhere is a wonderful read and the author talks so much sense as well. Excellent and I would recommend it equally to old geezers like us who grew up during those days but to younger enthusiasts to get a sense of perspective to the post-war aviation story.
Thanks for the lead to the book – I remember it now and where I can find it!!
Apart from the RNHF will this be the only airworthy Stringbag in existence?
I certainly DO remember that cut-away ( and the Frog kit ) and had all my Eagles and assorted other comics of the day until they all had to go during one of a number of house moves a few years ago.:(
I am sure I have seen a book of reproduced Eagle cut-aways complete with “period” cover but I cannot remember where or when…..
Despite several visits here and despite being an avid admirer of what you regularly post here I have not come to terms with the distorted images. I appreciate them but they just don’t work for me. But I will still look out for your next batch of ” conventional” images!:)
Excellent pictures and a refreshing change from the always terrific flying photos various members post here. I was struck by how few people there seemed to be about, although the weather looked bright in most of them.
😀 – but even then you won’t get the “bangs for your buck”, that you used to!

But we are not discussing anything new here. Mistakes, in whichever you care to describe them or with whatever words you care to describe them, have affected and beset projects since projects we first conceived. You cannot factor them in, although you factor in a percentage to cover them.
It is not the economic trough to which I am referring. It is the increasing indebtedness of the Western world which will affect global finances for decades. And since the Mars project will be decades in the making I stick by my contention, but with the rider I mentioned above.
