RE: Duxford get-together Sun 5th Jan

Alexis…I thought there might well be a number of you who are Friends of Duxford etc…

I am thinking that perhaps it is best that you make your own way through admissions (there may not be 20 or more of us who have to pay to get in e.g. those FoD members, Spitfire polishers 😉

I am awaiting details of Robert’s fee/expenses but was wondering how you guys feel about a general levy of say £4 (this does depend on Robert’s expenses)…any money left after covering expenses could go to a charity (The charity set up in Mark Hanna’s name for burns research is the first that comes to mind) Without knowing how many people are coming, it is perhaps best to set a small charge now and those who need to pay to get into the Museum, do so on the day…

Right guys and gals…

The plan is…

To meet outside Hanger 1 at 10am and then move on to the Concorde Room where we will be based for the day (this is one of the schoolrooms between Hangers 3 and 4…

Time for a natter and a “who’s who”…and then Robert’s presentation on the Battle of Britain film…

A break for lunch…as the room is practically right next to the Runway Cafe (the food has been quite good in there recently)

Then after lunch…time for a wander round…trip to the shop etc

I may well have a short video to show you about Duxford…the film version is currently in Preservation at the moment so it’s a possible not a definite…

Due to the winter opening hours and parking difficulties in place at the moment on the North side I feel it is best to leave a film showing until the summer time…as some of you can’t make this get-together, I am sure this won’t be the first one we have!

And Kev, don’t worry about remembering to call me Rebecca, I don’t mind if you call me Ashley, Rebecca or Becka!

Steve…I am very sorry to hear this :(…I hope they got this problem sorted in time for today’s silence…

It is a lovely sunny day here at Duxford today…beautiful clear blue skies…the sun is shining…and a P-51 is currently being put through her paces…from this side of the road it looks like OFMC’s ‘Ferocious Frankie’…:)
