When I first saw the Frog on the music channels a while ago, he was still letting it all hang loose and free – I nearly wet myself the first time I saw it.

Admittedly the constant advertising of the new single/ring tone on terrestial TV is somewhat annoying, but thank god it’s not that flippin’ Sweetie Chick – aaaaaaaaaaaaaargh!

Not sure if I am confusing the Lanc painting with another, but I seem to remember seeing a framed print of this particular painting on display/for sale in the Ante Room in the Officers’ Mess at Duxford a couple of years ago – either way your artwork is simply brilliant, really top notch 🙂

~Howling at whalebone’s post~ Juggling frogs and weasels?!? I will have to remember that one for tomorrow’s meeting…

One often used phrase around here that springs to mind is “think outside the box”…it went rapidly out of favour when I turned the tables on those concerned and managed to fit it into just about every sentence in one week…:diablo:

I am still digesting the original post in this thread, but one thing I will say is that not all moderation is done publicly – it’s not all waving a big stick and giving someone a public rebuke – sometimes moderation is done in a less abrasive manner, privately, often with success.

(Please note, I am only referring to the Historic forum here, as one of the Historic mods)

Heaven forbid that anyone should ever suggest it might have something to do with parenting skills, or the lack thereof.

Exactly – I and my classmates were all provided with a perfectly good sex education at school – what went where, what did what, and what happened consequently :diablo:

It was my parents who drilled into me the implications of having sex – i.e. getting pregnant, and that getting pregnant at such a young age would a) screw up one’s education, and b) leave one no longer footloose and fancy free but responsible for a young child (and that sure as hell is no minor responsibility.

I’m not sure who I’d like to slap first – the mother of the three premature spawners, or the three lovely ladies themselves. I really do think that too many people (and not just teenagers too) do not seriously think through the consequences of having children –

    i) the emotional impact – life is no longer just about you, but your child too, and in my humble opinion until your children reach adulthood, that’s the way it should be.

ii) the financial impact – particularly for the likes of these young girls – oh hang on, what AM I talking about? The state will support them ~slap to head~ That’s all right then

I am 26 and have been married for three years in September. Recently I have had a growing number of people say to me “so when are you going to have a baby then?”, or “isn’t it about time we were hearing the pitter patter of tiny feet from you? or “is there something wrong with you? Why haven’t you had children yet?” AAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!!! The threat of the sound of my hand pitter pattering across people’s faces usually does the trick 😉 Sometimes my thoughts turn idly towards the prospect of having children and the thought does not traumatise like it did up until a couple of years ago when life took an unexpected twist and turned my thinking upside down, but then I think “am I emotionally ready for this?” “Are WE emotionally ready for this”, and the answer is no – this may well sound selfish, but I am very happy it being just my husband and myself at the moment – and so is he. Neither of us can imagine bringing a third person into the equation at the moment as we feel it would change the balance of our relationship, and we are not at a point in our lives together where we wish to change that balance. This forward thinking on our part is sadly so often not considered by so many people out there, who have a child and then realise that they shouldn’t have done (I have a friend who has done exactly this, and I could slap her into oblivion for it because it is just not fair on her child)

Ummmm I digress 😮 Having said all that, is there really a right or a wrong time to have children? Well I certainly think anyone under 18,19, having a child is a fool – be a child, be a teenager, then be an adult – enjoy these phases of your life – get the best you can out of life, make the most of the opportunities available to you. Think things through…
