Don’t get me wrong Adrian, I have never wanted to work in a “traditional” 9-5 office job, but when you’re busy returning a toilet bowl to it’s original pristine state 😉 such a job does (fleetingly) offer salvation 😀

The vacancies for the MA’s positions always attract large numbers of applicants for only a handful of positions…

The smell of sweaty armpits (pasties) haunts me daily 🙁

Frankly, I’d love to give up my job (in Plymouth’s Pannier Market – selling computer networks) to do something (anything except cleaning loos) on an active airfield – especially where there are historic planes around – too.

The only problem is, I would need to be paid 🙁 in order to finance my terribly destitute lifestyle, but enormous debts.

Well someone has got to clean the toilets…and I’m not too proud to admit that the first job I had with the IWM included cleaning the public toilets. I was so desperate to get my foot in the door with the IWM that I was prepared to start at the bottom. Yes, there were days when I was on my hands and knees scrubbing toilet bowls wondering what the hell I was doing when I could have been making use of my degree in a nice warm skank free office somewhere, but those feelings soon passed. Money was tight, and still has to be watched carefully sometimes but it was worth it 🙂

You could always share a house with someone if you couldn’t afford to rent a place of your own (obviously if you own your own place, it’s harder to up and move someplace else) If you were to get a job at Duxford you would have no problem finding a house to share in Cambridge.

    Just a thought 🙂

Florian, I will get back to you asap re your accomodation query 😉

Wasn’t that the one where the other team whupped their asses solidly??

Yep…I think the other team was made up of members of the Red Dwarf fan club…

And talking of quizzes and Red Dwarf, Robbo, did you catch any of the Red Dwarf night on BBC2 back in 1997 I think it was? There was a Red Dwarf special of University Challenge, plus ‘Can’t Smeg, Won’t Smeg’, with Ainsley Harriot…Even though Ainsley really gets on my nerves, this really was one of the funniest things I have seen…I still have it on video, and it still makes me cry with laughter each time I watch it 😀

    To answer my own questions:

    1) What’s your favourite item of clothing? Either my old almost worn out saggy baggy blue Duxford fleece, or a fake fur trimmed cream angora cardi, or my black top with a bat on the front embroidered in electric green thread

    2) Who would you like to play you in a film of your life? Catherine Zeta Jones 😀

    3) What’s your favourite sandwich filling? Cold Lincolnshire sausages with tomato ketchup

    4) If you could be an animal for the day, what would you be, and why? A bat because I think they are fascinating creatures, much maligned sadly 🙁

    5) What’s your all time favourite quiz show? QUIZ SHOW??? Oh ********! I meant TV show! Aaaaaargh! That’s what happens when the boss walks in when you’re typing – you lose your concentration 😀 Not really a fan of quiz shows, but I do like Never Mind The Buzzcocks so I’ll go for that.

    6) Are you renowned for any particular culinary creation? My cheesy red bean pie – red kidney beans, tomatoes, onion, garlic, chilli and mixed herbs topped with mashed potato with masses of grated cheese added, plus extra cheese on top and a hefty sprinkling of paprika.

    7) What would be your ideal night out? And with who? Would head down to Canterbury the weekend and go for dinner in Pinnochios’ Restaurant in Canterbury, followed by a pitcher of Blue Lagoon in Bar 11, then heading up to The Venue, the University of Kent’s nightclub to dance the night away to old cheesy classics, then get a taxi home back to the hotel, stopping off for a kebab on the way…all with my husband and best friends from uni, Anna and James 🙂

Well the Clangers did use dustbin lids as the covers for their entrances…

Stuart…if you ever wish to visit the IWM’s sections on the northside, all you have to do is ask the right people…as far as the private operators go you can at least try asking…

After most airshows we find that at least one member of the public has tried to have a good nosey…and have been known to cause some damage…
