I’d really like to say a few things here, but it’s probably best for all concerned that I don’t.
But I do have a question for Russ *edited to put things a different way*. Does the IWM ever get anything right in your eyes? The IWM might not be perfect (show me an organisation that is) but it does get a lot of things right. I am interested to hear what you think.
Lotus72…have a look along the edges of the film. Does it have Kodak and then some symbols printed on the edge?
If so, have a look here http://www.kodak.com/US/en/motion/support/h1/identificationP.shtml and scroll down to the Date Code Symbols table and see if you can identify which year it is. Of course this is only the year of the manufacture of the film stock itself, but it should help give a rough idea of when the film was used.
Celebrity Riverdance??? Are you serious? 😀
*Falls off chair laughing*
(Sorry )

Only just spotted this thread, apologies (work keeps me busy!)
No e-mails received Rocketeer, not to say you haven’t tried sending one mind, we seem to be having problems at the moment.
With regards to the meet, I am pretty heavily committed elsewhere at the moment, and just don’t have the spare time at the moment to put together a forum meet to do you all justice. Sometimes it is nice just to meet people and put names to faces, so why not go with Rocketeer’s plan for now?
Who’s pregnant?
Well it’s bloody well not me!
A rumour for Legends…everyone who attends will appreciate all the hard work that goes on in preparation for the show…and there will be no whinging about not seeing this that and the other…
Whinging about prats on six foot stepladders perched at the front of the crowds and prats who put their lives (and pilots’ lives) at risk freeloading is permitted.
*Mutters darkly* :diablo:
David and MarkV…I guess I did not make my point very clearly. I was referring to a small but vocal group of people who bitch and complain about a paint scheme simply because they don’t like it, not because they are concerned about how accurate the paint scheme is. The point you make MarkV is very valid. Perhaps in my analogy I should have said something like: if I had painted my walls pale green and you walked in and took one look and said “Urrrrgh, I hate that!” without even being asked what you thought of the colour, well wouldn’t that be just plain rude? Commenting on the historical accuracy of a paint scheme is fine, but those who bleat about not liking the colours or choice of markings well, that’s a different matter in my book.
New Year resolutions for the historic forum:
1) Those who continue to peddle their vendettas, what ever these may be. Please stop. Enough is enough. Time to move on? Locked horns with someone? Perhaps it is time to turn the other cheek.
2) No member should be under the impression that this is just a small forum that only a few people view. Your words here are viewed here by far more people than some of you would ever give credit for or comprehend. This forum does not operate in a bubble safe from the technicalities and legalities of life. Watch what you post. Don’t make allegations about individuals or companies without the hard proof to back these allegations up.
3) When posting in anger, please think hard before posting. It is all too easy to hammer out an angry response to someone (been there done that!) but please consider your response. Reasoned arguments and hard facts are always better than abuse and garbled throw backs.
4) Do please make use of the search function. However, please be kind to new members who are perhaps not as familiar with this function. If a new member starts a thread which is similar to a previous one, feel free to post a link to the original thread/s, or introduce them nicely to the search function. We were all new here once.
5) Forum members – who are we? We come from all walks of life, with different areas of expertise and knowledge. For some aviation is their life, for others it is a hobby. It does not matter who you are, what you do, or what your level of interest/knowledge is, it is all good. Please continue to share with each other, and to learn from each other. Please be tolerant of views that are different to yours, and don’t shoot someone down just because they have a different opinion to yours.
6) One personal pet peeve of mine – the gnashing and wailing of teeth from those who dislike the paint scheme someone gives their aircraft. If you came around to my house and told me you did not like the way I had decorated the place, and then proceeded to tell me how I should have done it, then believe me, I would kick you out the front door so hard you would be wondering what hit you :diablo: So what if the paint scheme is not 100% authentic, is it your aircraft? Yes, then do something about it if you wish to. No? Try zipping it. No wonder some owners are so secretive about their aircraft given the way some people behave over a colour scheme.
Just some thoughts 🙂
GROUP FONDLE, I MEAN HUG!!! :p
I give up.
If I split the thread into two, then someone is bound is continue this never ending saga in the original thread as posted by Mark12 and then off we will go again. On this occasion I will leave you all to it. ALL OF YOU.
Happy Christmas everyone 🙂
I will not comment in public what I think about Ken’s version of events, but I will say this. If you met a gentleman like Ken in the pub one evening and he proceeded to regale you with his tales, if you did not believe him would you rip into him like some of you have done here? Yes, Ken has made some pretty vitriolic comments in the past none of which were excuseable, but did he really deserve the ridicule (which went way beyond leg pulling pardon the pun, it was bullying…and those of you who are uncomfortable with the word bullying being used, well…) that he got at the beginning? Yes he did fight back with some pretty unacceptable comments and accusations, but wouldn’t you?
We started this…a forum member here posted the original link to Ken’s website and it all snowballed from there…can we be the ones to finish this please? If Ken has something posted about you on his website then sure, you may well be offended/amused whatever….but how about leaving it now? As one of the most argumentative people on the planet (never mind arguing the hind leg off a donkey, I’ll leave the donkey in need of four false legs…sorry, leg jokes again…) I understand all too well the feelings of wanting to have the last word in an argument, or not wanting to let an argument go, but for once, can we not all do that, and as I think you will be reading this, I include you in this Ken. Can we ALL please agree to disagree without all the venom?
And on that note…if anyone wishes to respond, I will leave this thread open for the rest of the day and then will close it tonight. I have contemplated locking it with this post, but can understand that one or two of you may wish to respond. I will not argue with you about the whole sorry tale, if you don’t agree with me, fine. But please, can we all move on and leave this long running saga behind?
And if you do not feel you can leave this behind, well all I can say to you is Happy Christmas.
*Tin hat and flak jacket donned*
One word Lancman, WOW! 😮 That Dalek is simply brilliant, well done! I guess if you ever get invited to a fancy dress party there will not be a problem deciding what to wear…how to get there might be another issue! 😀
*Checks appendages* Nope, definitely female here 😉
At the moment I am regarding this as a piece of tongue in cheek humour in relation to a possible arrival at Duxford…we used to have fun on these forums, anyone else remember having fun here?
Just leave it, please. Let’s not wake this sleeping lion again – and that goes for everyone.
Mmmmmm John Barrowman….yummy…
And I don’t CARE if he’s gay, I still think he’s rather hot…
*Faints*
Torchwood rocks…although not as much as Doctor Who…David Tennant can probe me with his sonic screwdriver anyday…
Haha…*checks watch*
