That looks like Manston alright. Thanks, Versuch. Very interesting!
Was that due to vandalism or was jettisoning the hood prior to a forced landing normal procedure?
Upside down pole-cam. 😉
What did the poor Pole do for you to hoist him up by the ankles? 😉
Hear hear, TT!
Oh please god, don’t tell me they’re still seriously considering that awful tower! 😮
I’d much rather they concentrate on getting sky lights into the BOB hall roof!
Great work, Cees. Congratulations and thank you, to you and the other volunteers, for doing this.
I’d pick a decent location to avoid punter leeching with other museums, say somewhere in the North West. I was involved with a project to purchase the old airfield at Stretton near Warrington for this very purpose. Sadly it came to nothing due to several of our backers getting cold feet when the credit crunch hit.
Then the exhibits! At first I’d concentrate on rare types, starting with the high profile ones; a Typhoon, a Wellington (I’m looking at you L7775), a Halibag…
Then the usual. A Hunter, a Lightning, a Bucc, a Sea Harrier, a Phantom, a Tonka, a Jag, a Spit, a Hurri and Mossie and a Lanc! Not sure I’d have much of that 200 million left by that stage though!
That’s a shame, Andy. Has it definitively been confirmed as F/Sgt Copping’s Aircraft?
My uncle used to run a mushroom farm near Worksop. When he first bought it in the early 70’s, the growing sheds were surplus Nissen Huts, the carts were old bomb trailers and the storage shed was a chopped down blister hangar. Pretty the sure there were airframe parts dumped in the back of it too. Though there was no way to tell what from.
Given it’s shape and location it could, (ironically, given some of the comments,) be someone’s idea of a joke….
What do you mean by Smurf??
Slang term for the AAC.
Why ? What is wrong with the ones held in the UK already ?
They don’t go up-tiddly up-up?
Andy, Steve,
How much air testing is being done do you know? Aside from the obvious checks, has she been put through her paces at all?
Only 319,796 so far – way to go until we hit the million!

Congrats on the million views, David and thanks for all those great pictures. 😎
