Maybe I should have been clearer, I saw it in it’s lovely red scheme, and now it’s in a camo scheme. As far as I know it was still red when shipped to America.

I never even picked up on that – although I did notice G-FIRE at the back.

The D-Day-striped Spit in the middle-ground appears to be PM631 – which wore that scheme back in 1984.

Can’t be 84 as the Church 2 seater is in the shot.

I recall seeing G-FIRE at Duxford in 1988 (from memory) before being shipped off to Bob Pond in America and painted in a rather ‘interesting’ camo scheme.

Certainly isn’t, lovely looking piece of kit though, same it suffered a little bit over the years.

Nice to see some progress on the Miles Student, last time I saw it it was looking a little sorry for itself at Duxford. I remember it arriving there in 84/85. Love to see some more pics of it if there are any around.

I have on occasion spoken to a gentleman who at various times used to work and fly with Jeff Hawke, his general feeling was that Hawke was a ‘natural’ in an aircraft and that it was possible to tell from sitting in the back of an aircraft who was flying it at any particular time. I only saw Hawke fly once or twice myself, he certainly got the best out of an aircraft during a display.

Now come on, the security for the ARCO/HFL area is getting a little out of hand isn’t it?
Did all this lot come out of the 40′ ISO container????

Bedsheet Bomber is still owned by TFC – they want 10k for it – but at least it is more complete than the sandtoft one – ie with engines etc –

Glad Gorgeous Georgeanne has been saved – a year ago (and i know cos we looked) it could have been saved to fly – now the spar is rotten 🙁 –

Must be going to the Aviodome – and after what they did in 3 months when we sold em our spare beech i have no doubt that this will be a superb restoration

It may have engines but not a great deal in the way of a spar or any decent aluminium. Lots of nice white powder like stuff with a bit of paint here and there. 😀

    Think Essex, my boy.
Go east, young man. Go east.

Did it fly from Essex in the end or was it just rebuilt there, at one point Suffolk was the rumour of first flight, mind you I’ve been to sleep since then….

What shed would be accepted??? To be honest with the correct paperwork and lots of it you probably could certify a shed….
