It was the Firefly owned by Nick Grace (previously at Strathallen) and entered into one of the Duxford auctions. Since then it’s been through a number of owners in America and is yet again up for sale on http://www.courtesyaircraft.com Seemingly it has been untouched sine this time, probably 85/86.

That would be nice, but also the stuff at Stallion 51. Last time I was in Florida (5 years ago) if you carry on the road past Tom Reilly’s place for about half an hour there was a small workshop containing 2 or 3 P51’s. May or may not still be there, as far as I know this was the Lauderback brothers workshop.

Not strictly true, the display and static display aircraft were between the crowd line and the runway at Woodchurch, we parked everything else on the far side of the runway (unless ofcourse you were in a field on the far side at Woodchurch.

I have some detailed photos of the workmanship and I can post these early next week if anyone is interested.

Location wise it was at Chino in March and had been since leaving Duxford. If I recall correctly it was one of the Flight Magic / David Price projects which were rebuilt in Russia somewhere and powered by an American engine, the story at the time was that it was ‘resting’ here for a time due to an import problem between Russia and America.
