I tried a couple of times to pop over and say hello, but couldn’t find you. Had a busy day, but well worth it

I tried to find the Colt Moggy but I suspect it was probably in the end hanger which was locked over the weekend. Will you have it back for the 4th July?

Of course it’s a double standard, that’s the point. And “rare and priceless”, OK, the Mustang gibe was a bit off the cuff, but you get the point I hope. (Mustangs “rare”? Surely not). 🙂

Now then , don’t start me off on this one today!!!! In spite of what many think around here the Mustang is still a rare aircraft but survives in greater numbers than some because it is a ‘practical’ warbird and you can take a friend with you if you wanted (in most).

I had a hangover on Saturday morning, best cure I found was being strapped into the Stearman and flown around in the rain for half an hour.

No offence caused with me, from what I remember the landing was interesting as the pilot needed to get stopped and clear of the runway by the intersection as there was another Mustang and a Yak 11 chasing him.

Did the shot show the landing or the taxy back to the static line? I guess the person in the back was lucky.

Having said that we do tend to take it for granted that year on year there will be something rarer or more exotic turn up on the scene, which must put a great strain on the organisers. In recent years I tend just to go to the smaller events, take Old Buck yesterday, had that been 20 years ago nobody would have dreamed of seeing 3 P51’s displaying during the afternoon. We are very very lucky these days.

We could speculate on the percentage of forumites who will attend Leg Ends perhaps? Any offers?

Did it show anything good? I saw a little this morning showing Mr Dobson throwing his yellow thing about (nice aircraft, took a good look around it yesterday), a beautiful Harvard taxying out and an interview with Martin Shaw. Was yesterday’s piece any different?

Unfortunately, despie my best efforts, I couldn’t get to either day in the end. Grrrrr!!!! I’ll have to go another day a sample the food that I have heard so much about!

…..and to think we went to the trouble of bringing an Auster 5 over on both days just so you’d feel wanted 😀
The food at Old Buck is superb, however I think they were a little stretched on Saturday, but Sunday was fantastic.
