No idea! Cant find any answers anywhere?! Good theory though!

P.S. Yak11 Fan – maybe the Catalina will be visiting us on the 26th Sept…..

Sounds good to me, is there any progress on the Sywell Mustang recently?

Was it not D for Day then? Bit like H for Hour?

Maybe we should go back to the old forum with a reliable search engine but which had the tendancy to crash every couple of days. I did my first search yesterday and got it to work, perhaps it was just beginners luck.

It never fails to amaze me, how Tony Ditheridge’s lads manage to turn out such stunning restorations time after time. Looks like this one will be no exception to that rule.

This will be the best and most authentic Hurricane yet, everything is back in it from it’s operational days, an amazing machine.

Now that really would be nice, it’s a fantastic restoration complete with the same Merlin III (rebuilt in the UK) that it was fitted with at the time of it’s retirement all those years ago.

Good to see Jumping Jaques appearing at airshows in the UK, I guess my first opportunity this year will be at Old Buckenham at the end of the month. Looks like all the practice is paying off.

I think it was the rain! Note the amount of Zinc Chromate showing through on the fin – I thought it looked like the effort of a modeller who had just discovered weathering 😉

But Eddie you keep telling me you like the well used look on aircraft. 😀 😮

so where do I go to get a flight? (via the cashpoint of course)

    PS in the UK

As I understand it Classic Wings operate G-NZSS from time to time at Duxford (Mr Slowly will be able to tell us more I’m sure) and the Stearman at Old Buckenham also does trial flights http://www.oldbuck.co.uk/html/the_stearman.html

Of course these have little engines, for real fun you need to go for the 450hp machine, 0 – 90 kts in 3 seconds and thats your lot, but what a machine. Can’t think of a 450 on Public Transport however.

Stearman and Chipmunk are next on the list.

You won’t be disappointed with the Stearman, what a fantastic machine 😀

Engine number 1 was a JRS engine with 300+ hours on it, number 2 was mostly a a P & A Wood engine with very few hours on it, whatever the cause of the problems which caused a few headaches for a while it’s good to see it up and about and I’m sure the next engine will be overhauled soon. Shame about PV202 though.

As an aside TD248 got very few display bookings in 1994 when Eddie had her in her 41 Squadron scheme so it makes perfect sense to me.

Jets!!!!!!??????!!!!!! Never. Rather taken by the Stearman though and thinks the Mustang is very nice (may have been humouring me though)
