Sorry failed miserably in getting to Old Warden, hope you all had fun. I didn’t land back at Hardwick until 16.15, so at this point was already late so decided to roll the runway instead to take some of the winter ruts out of it. I will fly again in the morning to see if I was successful or not.

It’s ok, the guns are made from Aluminium and I linked the rounds together so it’s not likely to work, besides which it only has half the fire power of Janie. Now what I can’t see from the photo is whether the wiring is finished yet?

The Seafire III only ran for a maximum of 30 seconds and was far from complete. Subsequent to this it has required further rectification work which as I understand it is almost complete, however it then needs someone to bolt all it’s systems back in and sort it out to the CAA’s satisfaction.

    SadSack,

Tell me more, why do you think a conference is needed?
What we can’t forget is that it costs money to operate these machines, sometimes BIG money therefore it costs money for an airshow organiser to book them. Then we need to think about the number of people through the gate on the day and set an affordable price for admission to ensure you get as many people in as possible so as you can work out your budget for participants. Most if not all operators in the UK need to recieve some money from a show so as to offset the costs of actually getting it there.

Have Aces High not moved some stuff to Dunsfold? Maybe their DC3 would be on static, just watch out for Jeremy Clarkson.

You mean computers existed in 1979? Were these the big tape driven things like you see in the Italian Job?

My plan is to be at Old Warden tomorrow, however I may not make it until after 4, it all depends on how the day goes, otherwise I will look out for you all.

That is Charlie Brown, don’t know who the bloke in the hat is though . . .

I do and I’m desperately trying to remember his name, he was a neighbour of mine when I was growing up in a Suffolk Village and the former Headmaster of an Essex School, oh and I think he once flew Spitfires.

OK, here’s me with my sensible head on.

Aviation wise the end of the rainbow is getting closer and closer, as many will no doubt know I obtained my JAA PPL in March (April by the time the CAA had finished with the paperwork). I am now in the very fortunate position to have a good friend who owns a few aircraft and has very generously put me on the insurance of his Cessna 172 and arranged for a checkout for me to satisfy the insurance company early this weekend. After that I have to get on with hour building, so it’s highly likely I will be dropping into an airfield near you soon. With a bit of experience behind me I will be undertaking a tailwheel conversion and will be checked out on the newest addition to the fleet, which to me a few years ago is something I could not have dreamed of achieving and something which I am extremely grateful for.
In my personal life, one of the next goals is to convince the new Ms Yak 11 Fan that I am infact fairly safe in an aeroplane and that she should not be worried about flying with me in spite of how I drive.

I was due to go today, however the plan changed and the Mustangs went yesterday afternoon, as I had a prior arrangement yesterday evening I had to pull out. Still all is not lost it means I can bimble around in the 172 and build some hours while I wait for them to return

Spotted as I drove past, the Black Hurricane from up north. I am not sure what it was doing there but it had disappeared by lunch.

    Probably headed for Berlin.

You should move closer to Duxford or North Weald Digby there are all sorts of old planes there. However if you are at a loose end one day I have a garden which needs attention, I’ve given up looking out of the back windows of my house now
