Yesterday I managed to get my first flight in the UK on my new licence, flew the aircraft owner around East Anglia as part of my 2 hours check ride to satisfy the insurance company, carrying out stalls, steep turns etc before carrying out some circuit practice at Eye before returning to our grass strip around 7pm. Very enjoyable and the owner is still speaking to me which can’t be a bad sign. Today got washed out, even our usually dry runway has standing water (and ducks) on it.

Oh you want to bet do you? I’ll introduce you to someone who was very upset by the thought of Vintage Aircraft. Needless to say that the Vintage Aircraft are still around, but………

Any particular reason behind chosing the 172 over (presumably) the other ab initio option – PA28?

    Moggy

I chose the 172 as that is what I will be flying (this weekend all being well) back in the UK.

What happened to the wreckage of TF956? Is it a possible candidate for restoration, statically restored..?

I think it hit the sea very hard, don’t think there was a lot left.

Late 82 early 83 I believe. Sandy Topen’s Vampire was used as well.

Painted up for a television programme I believe (The Aerodrome?) which also used T33’s G-JETT and G-TJET.

The B26 tail section was previously displayed at the Rebel Air Museum at Earls Colne. After the museum closed the collection was held in store close to the Airfield. There was a plan late last year to see some of the collection including the Marauder tail displayed again at a relevant place in the local area, I will see how far this plan has progressed.
