I thought it was on loan from the USAF Museum along with all the other MDAP ex Sculthorpe aircraft.

It’s G-THUN. The Black and Yellow checks were done specifically for the Raydon Wings airshow. Raydon was a former P47 and P51 8th Airforce station (353rd FG) and I guess they wanted to see an aircraft in Raydon markings, now of course there is a Raydon Mustang based nearby which often goes back to visit the airfield.

    Now there’s a thing.

De Cadinet operated it, it has been owned by another person who’s name has been mentioned on this thread for some years. This person came up to the hanger once to see what his money had been spent on when the aircraft was having it’s annual.

Since the restoration completion in 1990 this machine has been flown for only a short time it spent a number of years tucked up in the back of another hanger, but at least it was kept clean. From memory it only flew regularly between 1996 and 2001, although it made a brief appearence in 94/95 and suffered a cooked engine into the bargain. The poor old thing could do with some TLC.

That is the Mark 16 TE184 (G-MXVI) operated at one point by Alain DeCadinet, last heard of in store at Halton.

I remember that one passing through Duxford, I understood that it went off for restoration in America, but have not seen anything of it since, would be about 85 / 86 I would think. Was it 44-90438?

And who were the pilots of this and the P38 and did he have pilots that flew regularly for him?

Petie 2nd appeared one day at West Malling probably somewhere around 1989. Chris Bevan used to do the majority of the flying for Doug.
